Hey, so my dad just recently bought a Wrangler (92 I believe) and has a problem I imagine is very common, his windows are really scratched/dirty/all around gunked up. I wasn't quite sure which section to post in since I don't know much about Jeeps (I'm a Camaro guy myself :D). Anyway what's the general consensus about fixing/replacing the windows on the soft tops? Any help or even general info would be helpful at this point, thanks a lot and I'll probably check back often to help him out with stuff like this since he's internet illiterate.

Well we will be more than happy to help you and your dad out. Well since the windows are all scratched there is not much you can do to fix that, but to purchase some new windows or maybe a new top.
Yeah, not much you can do if the scratches are bad, might be a good excuse to upgrade to a newer top, maybe one w/ tinted windows!
I'd second the quadratec recommendation, they have a soft top adviser function that is pretty good for 1st timers!

FYI if you do go with just the replacement windows the tinted ones don't show the scratches as bad.

Depending on the age of the existing soft top, new winow panels might look worse than the scratches. Faded top with new sides = ugly!
Welcome to the forum.

It won't cost much to get some Meguiar's PlastX at your local auto supply store. Wash the windows with mild soap and water and buff them out with the Plastx. See what they look like and go from there.

x2... nothing wrong with at least trying to fix the windows first. Spend a few bucks, and try to buff out the scratches with PlastX. If that doesnt work, I would consider replacing the top. There is a really good article in the last JP magazine I read about putting a TJ top on a YJ (which is what your dad has if it is a 92).
Welcome to the forum and you have come to the right place if you need answers and not a flame job from some know-it-all. But beware, the Jeep disease is contagious. You may find yourself ditching the speed of an F-body for the slow crawl of 4WD on rocks.

Hey, thanks a lot for the insight everyone. Is there a place that just sells the windows and not the whole top? Maybe I just missed it on that site. Oh and appearance isn't the biggest issue, it's more of a visibility issue. He's annoyed that he can't really see out the back well, especially when reversing. And no offense, nothing against jeeps but I'm too much of an f-body lover to trade mine in :D Sure she's only a v6 but I'll whore it out anyway http://www.cardomain.com/ride/2411937

Quadratec and 4wd Hardware should both sell just windows.

I watched the boys on Trucks buff out some windows, havn't tried it yet, but it would sure be worth the effort vs new purchase price

Yeah, I think trying to buff them is probably the best bet. I was hoping just the windows could be had pretty cheap as an X-mas gift idea but it doesn't look that way. Thank for all the opinions.
