can you dim leds in your dash?

can anyone who bought leds from superbrightleds.com answer whether or not you can still dim them like the factory ones? i have a friend who put leds in his truck and had to take them out because they were too bright for him and he could not dim them. just wanted to check this before i spent the money. thanks.

I was wondering this myself. I just ordered green LEDs from superbright. I had read somewhere where someone said you can't dim the leds in the dash. I don't know why you couldn't. The LEDS on my computer fans all dim. In fact, the fan controller has LEDs that indicate fan speed and they're dimmable.

I went to Superbrightleds.com and found this under Notes Concerning Conversion to LED Car bulbs

If I install LED bulbs in the dash, will the dimmer still work?

Yes, LED bulbs will dim with your dash light intensity control

Do they dim? Yes. Does it do anything? Not really. Cuts it down by less than 50%

I got red leds for my dash and hvac and to be honest the dimmer barelly does anything at all. Doesn't really bother me though :)

I usually run my dash lights at full brightness anyway. I can't wait to see how it'll look with the green LEDs. Everyone always puts either blue or red in.

yeah pretty much the same for me, I actually didn't think they dimmed at all till I was messing with it and had the engine off.
they DO dim, but its practically unnoticeable

Mine do dim some. It is not linear and will drop a couple steps. I like them at full brightness.

I got the blue led's....they do dim, but they dont bother me a full brightness at all, so I seldom dim them

I have the stuck bulbs and the lights dont dim! I though they were not supposed to... I can turn the knob and turn the sound bar light on but dash lights dont dim :(

cant get my superbrightled's to dim on my 99, if they do I don't notice it

I like the green, really cool looking, but I went with red to match radio and other gauges

Yes, I have blue leds for my dash and HVAC from superbrightleds.com and they dim with no issues.

Red is easier on the eyes at night. :)

I got mine in today, and they don't dim. They look cool, but are a little bit too bright. I think the color (green) has a lot to do with it. I've searched, and can't find a solution to making them dim. I read that the cluster uses a PWM to dim the lights and the LED's don't draw enough current for it to work properly, or at all. I may end up having to put regular bulbs back in :nonono:

It's prolly the color. My red are fine. You might get used to them?

I'll give them a few days and see.
