JKU order on hold----how long

I have a JKU manual on order. I was advised that the vehicle is on production hold due to low supply of the 18" spoked wheels. Has anyone else heard this?
How long do production holds tend to last?
Ordered about 20 day ago.
Was getting anxious until yesterday.
Thanks

As long as it takes to get the parts back in stock.

Look at the bright side, you might end up w/a 2013 :flowers:

fishmd 02-16-2012 06:39 AM

Might wanna change the wheel order. Save some money and then get nicer aftermarkets.

speeder37 02-16-2012 07:37 AM

So
I guess that holds do not come off quickly. There is no rule of thumb or average hold period. It's a waiting deal. I'm an adult. It shouldn't matter.
If dealers actually stocked a manual trans vehicle, we would not have these problems.

j.luis 02-16-2012 08:06 AM

You will be okay, it's only been 20 days.... lets see if you can beat my delivery mine took 66 days, lets see if your takes 67 days.... I don't see it taking as long as mine, mine was a June order.

speeder37 02-18-2012 10:21 PM

Has anyone heard anything additional on the wheel hold?

Is there a number at Chrysler, (I mean Fiat) that might have an idea of when a wheel back order can be filled?

Thanks

Chrysler is in charge of the production of the Wranglers.. Not Fiat

speeder37 02-18-2012 10:48 PM

Just kidding about Fiat thing

XJ Knight 02-18-2012 10:52 PM

Ah sorry.. Harder to pick up on sarcasm in type

keegs54 02-19-2012 01:31 PM

i called jeep on friday person said he had no holds that showed up on his computer

speeder37 02-20-2012 12:11 AM

In that case, I have a dealer giving me a line.
I'll email Chrysler and see if I get answer tomorrow.
Thanks for the information.

Was there something special about what you ordered? What country do you live in?

After a month or two I would have been buying off a lot.

Mine was somewhere in the middle, 125 days, but boy was it worth the wait. Best Vehicle I've ever owned. I find myself coming up with excuses to go out for a drive...:D

speeder37 02-20-2012 08:09 AM

Absolutely nothing special.
Black Cherry, tan leather, 19" wheels, 373 gear,6 speed, body colored top and climate control.
All off the rack , impossible to find on any lot. Seems 95% os Saharas are ordered with an auto trans.

 I hope that's a typing error. Black Cherry? Is that a new color?

speeder37 02-20-2012 07:23 PM

No new color. I was off. The color is the Cherry Pearlcoat.
Emailed Jeep today and got a response. It is true that the 18 inch 7 spoke wheel is back ordered without a fill date.
If you are placing a new order, beware.

keegs54 02-21-2012 09:37 PM

i hate to beat a dead horse speeder but i have the same wheels as you and my jku sahara just went to paint today. got varifacation from jeep, 2 hrs. later my salesman called and told me same thing. and jeep vots had it in paint. now im assumming they wouldnt start a jeep unless they had all the parts. at least i hope thats the case. also its suppossed to ship 23rd

speeder37 02-22-2012 12:26 AM

Keegs
I get it. I can't imagine that they would start production without all of the parts.
I must have missed a cut-off of some sort.
I hope that this is the week that the hold comes off.
Anyone out there that has recently ordered a JKU with 18" spoked wheels? Did your order go through?

Strokerswild 02-22-2012 07:31 AM

Last week my dealer told me that the 7-spokes weren't in the system as a choice anymore. Either discontinued or temporarily not available. No updates since.....

With only two wheel options available, why would they choose to kill off one of them?

Exactly.

And I basically don't want the base wheels. Which is making me rethink ordering one entirely and waiting to see what comes around for '13.

speeder37 02-23-2012 01:10 AM

Today the dealer stated a week to ten days before they would resume production.
I have little faith in their assumption.
Still no VON.

We were trying to order one Monday 2/20 with these wheels and were told the exact same thing with no ETA so we took another Jeep that was in stock.

I checked and there are dealers with parts operations on the web that seem to have them for about $400 each as accessories.

speeder37 02-23-2012 10:36 PM

Here is a good question: For any questions that seem to go unanswered by Chrysler.
Who does have the answer? In this case, it is a simple case of one item in short supply. It is virtually impossible fo no one person in the entire corporation to not know what is going on.
It seems like it is that way with colors, delivery dates etc.
No one knows. That is BS! Someone has to know the answer to any production or delivery related question. It's always easier to say " we don't have an answer".
My 2 cents

JeepInUse 02-24-2012 05:12 AM

It still shocks me Chrysler is having such an issue getting parts. The wheels aren't the only thing they are having issues with parts too. Whoever is running their Logistics Chain just blows. I feel for you guys and good luck.

Good news is I guess I can sell mine pretty easy. I didn't really want them being polished aluminum but they were on the Jeep I had to have.

Silverton34 02-24-2012 07:53 AM

Unfortunately most automotive wheels are now made in China. It could take quite some time for a decent stock of these wheels to arrive. eBay has a set that are takeoffs for $999. I would go that way.
