I've seen them entirely bedlined before but never plasti-dipped. This should be interesting. Can't wait for the pics.

I've had this stuff in my garage for years but never thought about using it this way. The amount of Internet chatter about it is growing.... Lol. Probably a good time to by some plasti-dip stock.

Whats the point. Is the jeep going to be all black now or are there different colors. What are the benefits
02-16-2012 05:52 PM
so basically the whole jeep is going to be a flatt black. and the one good thing about plasti dip is if some does get scrached off u can just re spray over it and it melts within itself so it doesnt get blotchy or show if its not layered right. its very cool

Looks good. Now if you get into a police chase you can peel the black color off your jeep and lose the cops easy.
02-16-2012 05:58 PM
hahaha its easy but not that easy. and escaping from a cop in a jeep that only goes 85 topping out im not going anywhere lol

I've never used plasti-dip but I am curious and considering it for my fenders, bumpers, etc. Does it dry smooth or is there a texture? It looks really smooth in the pic.
02-16-2012 06:10 PM
Between .i did faring on my r1, finish come out texture smooth
02-16-2012 06:17 PM
it doesnt have to much texture but its pretty smooth. when u paint it on it comes in a spray paint can. it works amazing. as long as u clean the surface right and prep right it comes out great. there is flatt black and many other plat colors u can get. idk how it would work on the bumber and stuff like that bc im assuming its already black... but on the body it works great so far! i cant wait to finish the whole car

Ive been debating on this or the bedliner to paint up the interior of my hard top. Has anyone tried this? Could you give feedback and pics?! I am hoping that it will help with a little insulation and road noise and maybe even clean up the look a bit.

bed liner is great! i did a test of that on some scarp metal i had! but the only thing with that is, is that once u use bed liner there is no turning back! thats why i went with plasty dip bc once u dont want it anymore u can just take it off... or u can ever change it up and take it off and respray with a new color
02-16-2012 06:41 PM
It looks really great dude...:thumb::thumb:up
02-16-2012 06:53 PM
I like it, I would keep going!
02-16-2012 06:55 PM
Yeah, good luck. I plasti-dipped my rocker panels, but it kept peeling where my shoes scraped over it. So I peeled it off and used the rubberized undercoating instead and so far so good. Can't wait to see the whole JEEP though...

i did my interior hard top with PD.black inside roof look better like white
02-16-2012 07:24 PM
looks really good on the doors, after i see what happens to yours ill probably do the same only becouse my paint is thrashed, and this looks to be a 50$ fix to that. lol
02-16-2012 07:25 PM
that looks great.

This is certainly an interesting project. Can't wait to see more pics. Vasyl, I'm curious, did your Jeep seem any quieter after you did the inside of your roof?
