Stock yj heigth??

Have a 1991 yj with a lift and don't know how many inches the lift is any one know what the stock height is?

ClayL 02-17-2012 11:29 AM

What tires are on it?

Mason505 02-17-2012 11:48 AM

31s

ClayL 02-17-2012 11:51 AM

Could just have 1" shackles, you can really only fit 30's under the stock suspension, unless you change flares.

Mason505 02-17-2012 11:59 AM

I know it's taller than that though because 33s could fit easy, do you know what the stock height is so I could just measure and subtract the difference?

ClayL 02-17-2012 12:01 PM

no idea, but if you can fit 33's then you have about a 4" lift.

ClayL 02-17-2012 12:08 PM

so from what im reading the stock ride height is any where from 69.6 in (hard top) to 72 in (soft top)

Mason505 02-17-2012 01:05 PM

Okay thank you for the help

ballistx 02-17-2012 02:22 PM

differential

From what I understand, the differential height is 9" and the height to the body under the door is 18". Measure the differential height, compensate for the door height and the rest is lift.

1BadAssJeep 02-17-2012 05:01 PM

I have a 6in lift with 33s and the body underneath the door is 26 inches and my differentials are 11inches.

ballistx 02-17-2012 06:47 PM

that works out

11" at the differential minus the 9" = 2".
2" tire add + 6" lift = 8"

18" + 8" = 26".

33" tires against 29" stock is 4" = 2" higher differential.

Love it when a plan comes together. :thumb:

Mine is a stock 93 with 29" tires and I have 9" to differential and 19" to bottom of body under the door.

ballistx 02-18-2012 06:25 AM

Dang!!

And just when I thought the plan had come together....

Mine is a 94 stock, 9" to bottom of front differential and 18" to body. But my springs look very flat and I figured they had settled a little. But the spec's call for 18".

Could just be the difference in spring arc.

Not so fast

I have P235/75 R15 tires. P205/75 R15's are what came stock on the YJ.
I would say your calculations are pretty accurate.

Nas.a7x 02-18-2012 11:33 AM

Yj stock height = not enough

duaneduanet 02-18-2012 08:57 PM

You can't go by the math exactly. Over the years the jeep will sag some.

ballistx 02-18-2012 10:22 PM

that's what I was checking

It looked like my springs had sagged as there was only about 1.5" between axle and snubbers. But according to the original specs (9"/18") mine was right on. Actually it was 9" to diff and I have 235's on it. But only 1/2" there.

bakerboys 02-19-2012 01:16 PM

Ok. So mine has 31s. Dont know lift either but 33s look like they will fit

So i just measure from ground to jeep under door stock should be 18 lets.say.mine is 22
Do i subtract for tire what is stock tire 28 inches

Need to know about to buy tires

bakerboys 02-19-2012 01:17 PM

Sorry. Stock tire is 29 my bad. I ll try to figure it out

bakerboys 02-19-2012 01:33 PM

Couldnt i just add a inch.to top of tire to.see.if.33s will.work

ballistx 02-19-2012 03:30 PM

add or subtract

Measure the height to the bottom of the differential. Say it is 9.75". Then add .75" to 18". The bottom of the door should be 18.75 for standard suspension. If yours is 20.75, then you have a 2" lift.

bakerboys 02-19-2012 03:33 PM

Curious. What is .75. For

bakerboys 02-19-2012 03:34 PM

Oh. Ok. For tire size.

bakerboys 02-19-2012 05:05 PM

Ok. Rear diff is 8.75 inches. And bottom of door is a little bit above 22 1/2 and.have 31 inch tires. So .i guess i.have a 2 1/2 lift. I guess 33s will work
