radio upgrade

hey guys. i'm about to relocate my radio into my locking console. I want to upgrade the radio instead of just move my old one. It doesn't have to be top of the line competition quality or anything. But i do want it to have an AUX input on the front and a USB. (honestly, what does the USB do that the aux doesnt and vice versa?) next, since it will be locked in the console, i don't want to have to look down all the time to fiddle with it, so if bluetooth would be sweet so i can just lay my phone down and stream music through my phone or pandora off my phone. lastly, my phone is a droid, i know kenwood and sony have a few units out that are android compatible. just not sure what unit is best for my needs. CD player is nice to, but i'm assuming all have that included.

i'm not hooking up a system, just the 2 in dash speakers and a VDP 6 speaker soundbar. what are your suggestions? TIA

Pioneer, kennwood, alpine units all have what you are looking for. They all have their differences but all good brands. STAY AWAY FROM SONY, they are all garbage

The saying, "You get what you pay for" is true here. I just replaced my cheap head unit that someone installed with a Kenwood and the difference is night and day. Mine is a cd, radio, aux, USB, but I am sure for a bit more green you can get blu tooth. Honestly with a USB port there isn't a real reason to spend the money on it. You will have great sound through the USB if you go with those three brands and you can just buy a transmitter to the radio you plug into your phone and set your station to. I would spend the extra money on speakers or a sub if you really want better sound and screw blu tooth. But it's your jeep so build it the way ya need it. Just remember you get what you pay for.

I've actually got a really nice head unit in there ( was almost $500) when it came out but its outdated. Only has a cd, no usb or aux. jeep had that plus a system with 2-10's when I bought it. Hit super hard. But I get into a lot of mud and water plus hunt with my jeep. It just took up too much room and was too vulnerable so I took the system out. Besides the head unit being outdated, someone tried to steal it once and it powers off when I hit a bump.

So I'm wanting to upgrade to newer technology with aux and usb ( don't care abt satellite) but I'm also installing it in my locking console ( which is why I want blue tooth ( can stream from phone without cable) and I haute clutter, but like the option to hook up a cable if necessary.

Lastly, I'm not a real audio buff so sound quality isnt super important.

But kenwood seems to be a common response btwn a couple forums I've used. Thanks bud
