New Part Numbers For Kicker Upgrade
Just wanted to let the board know there are new part numbers for the Mopar/Kicker upgrade. I noticed that people with '11s were having problems with the 77KICK46 amp and did some research because the correct numbers are hard to find. What I found out is that Kicker updated the components for '11+ and here are the correct part numbers for the Stage 3 kits:

77KPK309 - 2012 Kicker kit for 2 door Wrangler with base factory audio

77KPK310 - 2012 Kicker kit for 2-door Wrangler with premium factory audio

77KPK311 - 2012 Kicker kit for 4-door Wrangler with base factory audio

77KPK312 - 2012 Kicker kit for 4-door Wrangler with premium factory audio

Specifically speaking of the Stage 3 for the Infinity system, the componant part numbers are now:

77KICK10 (same) – 6 1/2-inch 2-way coaxial speakers

77KCK056 – 368-watt RMS, high-speed amp (8-chan.) to power speakers and integrate with sub

77KCK052 sub – 10-inch, dual voice-coil square woofer (200 watt amp) for big bass in a small space

Hope this helps someone considering the upgrade.

So I was actually looking at some of this stuff yesterday. I am wondering about that amp and that sub....hum. Does that sub fit in the stock enclosure space? And is that amp any better than the stock Infiniti amp?

seanpholman 02-18-2012 12:21 PM

I am working on an install article, so I learned a bunch of stuff about the product from Kicker.

The amp is said to free up the sound bar and has a surround sound mode, as well as 32-bit DSP. It also has curves that better match the Kicker speakers. The nice thing is, it is plug and play. There have been mixed reviews on the amp in the past, but I think it was people using the wrong part number. I'll know more when I get a chance to do the install this week.

The subwoofer does not replace the stock one in the stock enclosure. It is in its own enclosure that snaps in to the babyseat anchors behind the rear seat. It also has it's own 200-watt amp and is removable for security.

The Kicker stuff meets or exceeds OE requirements and has a 3 year warranty. I am not expecting audiophile-type sound and performance in the Wrangler, but this should be a really nice upgrade for the average guy looking for a substantial improvement in the way the system sounds. Plus it was designed specifically for the Wrangler and has a warranty. All stuff that sounds good in my book.

You can see a picture of the sub on Quadratec's site:

How much $$$?

I think the Stage 3 kits re about a grand. My only question is what to do with the stock sub, I guess it all just comes out.

cheap4tw 02-26-2012 05:10 AM

See, I'd want to upgrade everything then besides the sub, and replace the sub in the current box. I know the current box is small, but that's the point! It's positioned well and takes up little room.

KarlG 02-26-2012 11:05 AM

Sean, thanks. Looking forward to another good article out of you. :thumb: 02-26-2012 12:46 PM

Whoa, so the AMP will fix the problem with the low-volume in the sound bar?

If so, I'm 100% interested.

seanpholman 02-26-2012 12:47 PM

Thanks! I think the new speakers are going to make the biggest difference and I hope to determine once and for all if the Kicker amp frees up the sound bar or not. Also curious how the amp works with the stock sub. I'd love to keep the stock enclosure and upgrade, but I have the Kicker sub to try. My thinking is that I can remove the stock sub and use the non-sub trim panel to keep things looking clean. This would give me a nice sub for daily driving, but the ability to remove it for the trail or camping (where the stock sub would be blocked anyway), and it would also give me more cargo space for when I have my ARB Fridge Freezer and kitchen box side-by-side. My only issue I have to deal with then is how to mount the 12V receptacle in the non-sub panel and I don't know if there will be room, or how the 12V outlet comes apart or mounts. Maybe I can find time to yank it apart today and find out.

Won't the 07-10 or 11 model numbers (77kick40) still be compatible with the 2012 model numbers (77KPK309)?

OL Sarge 06-28-2012 08:51 AM

Kicker makes a 8" sub that fits the factory box

OL Sarge 06-28-2012 08:56 AM

how much for the amp if your willing to split up

Cruise missile 06-28-2012 09:02 AM

^^ That's what should have come with the package. 8" drop-in for the factory sub enclosure.

They should've offered the sub enclosure as an option.

The way it is now with the square sub hooked to the seat back there's room for about 2 sacks of groceries.

Also, that sub enclosure rings like a bell and needed dynamat (press-n-seal) applied to the inside to stop it. I also stuffed it with poly-fil.

Why is there absolutely no info re: these kits on the net anywhere? I searched for 77KPK311 and 77KPK312 and found NOTHING out there describing what it is, what comes in it, how much it costs or where to get it. I'm at a loss. What is premium vs. base sound mean? There is literally no info anywhere about these kits.

Lynskey 06-28-2012 11:25 AM

The JL 8" W3 drops right in the sub tub. Just needs a ring spacer.

Hi All,
Here is the entire chart from Kicker. It details year, model and Infinity/base.
And yes- it is a complete pain in the butt to find this stuff. I've mentioned it to Kicker and they're working on it.
There is a thread that covers most of your questions:
Kicker Speaker Upgrade for 2012 Wrangler - Jeep Wrangler Forum

Contact your local Mopar dealer, Jeep dealer or any Kicker authorized "Pro Fit Dealer". Using the part # on the chart they SHOULD be able to get you pricing. If the dealer you contact can't, call another. Its like anything else- some places are better than others.
To find a Kicker dealer:
Kicker Dealer Locator | KICKER

To Sum Up the System:
I have the Stage 3 system. The Kicker system has 2 amps, one for the speakers and for one the sub. Both mount behind the dash. The sub, as mentioned, locks in behind the rear seat. It is somewhat impractical- but the bass is ridiculous. (The factory & Infinity sub is an 8" and the shape & location of the enclosure aren't the greatest for bass.) The Kicker sub has a quick disconnect and pops in and out easily.
The standard head units stink. The power output is dismal- around 4 watts per channel. The adjustment of the audio is also limited- so no system will make the soundbar speakers fantastic. The Kickers are definitely better- but unless you replace the head unit and/or add an amp don't expect miracles. Any aftermarket speakers (front or rear) will need an amp. Otherwise, as mentioned, the head unit can't power them and you won't hear much of a difference.
I can now crank my volume up to 29 or 30 without clipping. The bass-iest song doesn't come close to bothering the sub at this volume. The Kicker Stage 3 system obliterates the stock. I can't speak to how much better it is over the Infinity because I had the stock system.
Shew...I think that's it. : )
(On a side note: the Kicker guys are really nice and helpful. If you can't find something or have questions they're happy to help.)

Is that for 2012? I thought that was for prior years?

Is that the new Kicker sub? How long have you had it? Mine doesn't rattle one iota.

j0nx 06-28-2012 04:03 PM

So what comes with the system for the jeep non-infinity audio with uconnect? I'm still confused. Does this add a sub and amps or is the sub separate? My 2012 is the base sound non-infinity but it does have uconnect. I'd like to add an amp, new speakers and a powered sub so if the kit includes all of that then maybe I'd be interested since you really can't get crap aftermarket for less than $1000 unless you do all the work yourself and even then it's still pushing $1000 with all the harnesses, XM receiver, wiring adapters, etc that you have to buy to change out the HU. How does the stage 3 sound compared to the stock non-infinity system?

It didn't rattle, it rang. The box resonates after the bass kick and makes the bass less tight. This becomes especially noticeable with fast bass kicks like with metal or prog rock.

I am an audiophile though, and very picky about my sound. The mods to the box cleaned it up to acceptable levels so all is well now.

JeepHerz 06-29-2012 11:59 AM

Interesting- I know what you mean. I'm glad you were able to mod. it to fix it- but I don't think you should have had to. It shouldn't sound like that out of the box. But then again I don't have any prog rock to test- I don't even know what that is. LOL.
FYI: A good outlet for audiophiles (for components) thats in your neighborhood (Springboro) is Parts Express. The name doesn't exactly imply "audio". - Home Audio, Home Theater, Electronic Components, In-Wall Speaker, Ceiling Speaker, LCD Mount, HDMI, Audio and Video Cable
They're going to start carrying more high-end equipment in the next 6 mos. or so. (I'm from West Chester- I have a good friend that works there).

billjean2011 07-10-2012 02:35 PM

Does anyone know if the 77KPK302 Kicker Stage 3 sound system upgrade can be fitted in a 2012. Originally purchased to upgrade my 2010 Base without premium speakers..sold the 2012 purchased a 2012 call of duty but now I have this Kicker system and not sure if I could use some or any of it with the Call of Duty with Premium infinity system

JeepHerz 07-10-2012 02:59 PM

My initial thought is "no"- the wiring harnesses will be different . (factory vs. Infinity). But I'd definitely call Kicker on that one.

billjean2011 07-11-2012 10:18 AM

Thanks I appreciate it....we are trying to sell the kit if we can otherwise maybe we can use part of it.

JeepHerz 07-11-2012 11:14 AM husband said he's seen the wiring harnesses sold seperately. He thought he saw them on Just for Jeeps but I don't see them. Might be worth a call to Kicker or Just for Jeeps. If they're not too expensive it might make it worth it. If you find a way and don't want your Infinity sub let me know. My father-in law thinks he can re-work it with better stuff. I love my Kicker but not the location. I'd only rip it apart though- so I'd need to pick it up cheap. I'd be your last resort. : )
You know you can post it for sale on the forum right? I think you need 15 posts before you can post it???....

billjean2011 07-11-2012 12:31 PM

Thanks I will list it on this site... I would prefer to sell it complete. I paid over $1100.00 for the kit.

billjean2011 07-12-2012 09:04 AM

Anyone Know of a upgrade package for the 750N media center...speakers, subwoofer etc... I would prefer to buy a complete kit if available

Leonidas 07-12-2012 01:21 PM

I'm going to put a Kicker Comp VR 8" in the stock sub housing, but I'm not sure if the infinity amp supports the 2 or 4 ohm model.

jdphoto 07-12-2012 09:59 PM

Is there any benefit buying the kicker kits vs off the shelf kicker speakers for the sound bar? Is it just for the plug n play convenience or is there more to it?

JeepHerz 07-12-2012 11:08 PM

Just for clarification- you mean Kicker vs. Kicker right?
They're the same- the kit just replaces everything in one package (except tweeters). You can order the speakers alone if you just want to try uping the volume on the soundbar.
Can't help you with the ohm.....question Leonidas- sorry. Someone has done it but I can't find the thread it was on.
