Sooo embarrassing...

Took off my doors couple days ago and decided to put them back on today. It was pretty easy to just remove the doors myself but when i tried to put them back on, they just wouldn't pop back in  I has to get help from this girl who was parking her car next to me to help me carry the door and put them back on..... embarrassing moment of the day.

ps: i got her # tho. :whistling:

That's even better

I haven't taken my doors off yet but the front ones are at least 60lbs which would be difficult to guide into the hinges

BAP 02-18-2012 11:19 PM

never had a bit of trouble- i can doit with one hand

half doors--lol

Another Guy In A Jeep 02-18-2012 11:20 PM

Its real hard for me to do it. but im 6 ft hitting 139 pounds. So me struggling is kind of self explanatory. Just takes some practice I suppose but i can do it.

Johnboy11 02-18-2012 11:21 PM

nope 44 years old and it's easy to me, I'm only 5'10" and 190 so ......YOU CAN DO IT!!!!!!!

BAP 02-18-2012 11:41 PM

i am just a little over 5ft and have taken off and put on many full doors at work no problem

a good little trick is to put a little vasoline on your pins..helps them slide on easier

Mr_RPM 02-19-2012 12:27 AM

I have a hard time putting them back on, off is no problem though.

I have poor balance when lifting heavy things all while trying to line up the hinges. I have done it before but now i get help

Vin 02-19-2012 12:29 AM

Practice makes perfect. You'll get a technic that works for you, eventually.

stangruns11s 02-19-2012 12:35 AM

im 5'9 215 its pretty easy for me but the gym is my friend

1CrzyCelt 02-19-2012 12:41 AM

I'm gonna have to remember that in the off chance a single hottie might move in next door.

BeaverJeeper 02-19-2012 01:05 AM

hmm. i guess i'm just ripped. lol i'm 6' 140 pounds. full doors, never had had trouble lifting the doors and getting them on by myself. but, i cycling a lot and lift using my legs. my arms do none of the work. lol

Ltblue 02-19-2012 01:32 AM

i feel fat now, lol you guys and your 6 feet 135 -145 lbs.. I'm 6'1 210..

Bushwacker Bud 02-19-2012 01:55 AM

Man I feel out of place here to....... I'm 6'3 and 255! But the gym is my friend too!

bobowrangler 02-19-2012 01:57 AM

haha im 5' 9", 150 lb. I'm not the super buff type but since i fence, lifting the door is no problem. but lining up the hinges was a pain in the a$$ (also cuz it was a bit dark). I put the doors back on at about 45 degree angle, is it easier if it's 90 degree?

1CrzyCelt 02-19-2012 02:45 AM

Well, I'm 5'10" and a fit 190lbs.....I can fake not being able to handle the doors if I need to. lol

elektrk1 02-19-2012 02:47 AM

You are talking about full doors right. I think the gym should be everyones friend.

yeah I know what you mean. Sometimes things come out easily but getting back to same position is remarkably tough. I had so many situations like these..

BAP 02-19-2012 06:27 AM

i m sorry but this thread makes me feel pretty good about myself,,,
i just turned 50yrs.old im 5ft 2in. and weigh in at150..and have zero problem lifting full doors or well anything up to 200lbs, just yesterday me and my son put a 500lb frontend loader bucket in the back of a full size pickup bed..
and have never been a friend of the gym.--i guess being an old dirt farmer cutting and splitting firewood fencing and hanging alot of gates and just plain ole good hard work has been my friend..plus fighting men 3 times my size on a regular basis has,nt hurt me either(mma)--lol

but really it just takes some practice you did roll down the window didny ya, and the 90 degree angle will help..when i reinstall i dont really even think about it...

and i truley belive things happen for a reason-----use that #
best of luck and GOD BLESS
...bap

5"11 and 200 here, no problem lifting the doors here, but I am used to lifting and loading scuba equipment all year.

kjeeper10 02-19-2012 10:15 AM

Tj was easier. I used to roll the window down and put one arm through-other from the bottom.
I had my Jk doors off once. To be honest-forgot on how I did it- doors were heavier though :)

ballistx 02-19-2012 04:26 PM

just had to check

Got me thinking/wondering. Hadn't had the full doors off my 94 YJ for awhile and figured it would be a good time to grease them. Took off both doors, creased hinge and put back on in about 3 minutes.

5'10", 235lb and just turned 70 years old.

I'll admit, putting them on imo is def harder cuz if u don't line it up.perfectly the first time you spaz and wiggle around for awhile to get it in. I can see where the issue is.
