My video~2012 Wrangler with Gibson Dual Exhaust

You have to excuse the sensitive phone, it is amplifying everything. Just so you have an idea though. You really hear it on acceleration, but once RPM's are steady, it drowns itself out. I actually think it sounds cleaner than a V8, not that I was ever trying to achieve that, LoL. Sorry had to add that for the haters!

I was actually shocked the Pentastar sounded that good.

Now you need dualies. :D

Just curious, did you do a full reset of your Jeep's computer, or not? I've been away for awhile.

No, I am wondering if I should. I needed help with this area.

I also have different Driving style 3 months later (Cr-V to Wrangler, lol), than when I first got it. I am wondering if I should reset so it can adjust to they way I drive now that I know how to drive it.

Should I redo procal if I do full reset KB? Do you think I will see any benefits from full reset with what I said/asked?

New2012JEEP 02-19-2012 08:47 AM

Haha:rofl:, I just listened to it on my desktop, on the bose computer speakers, Sounds really loud there:rofl:. It's not that bad for normal ears.

Thanks!

Here is a picture, just noticed video didn't capture whole thing. Mine came out centered perfectly, some people last year had issues with not being centered.

Blackened 02-19-2012 09:10 AM

Sounds good. Now if only someone would post a banks I would be able to make up my mind.

Ericologist 02-19-2012 09:21 AM

Always love me some duals.

Your computer will learn. I wouldn't reset anything. Just keep driving it, and you should be good.

Cool, was just wondering. With the dealers possibly hard, pedal to the metal style of driving for those 45 miles they owned it, to my hard on the pedal at frist, to nimble now...was just wondering. Will leave it be :D

Nooooo! I got it from MVP Auto for $256, no tax, shipped directly from Gibson! Stainless version with them was 350!

Thanks! I installed myself, no jacks or anything. The grommets are the worse part. They are hard to remove. I was weary on cutting in incase I didn't like it, glad I did like it because I ended up cutting both sides on stock. Wasn't worth the effort to try and save it, lol.

Gibson directly sells for close to $500, plus shipping. I just got the aluminized, and threw like 3 coats of rustoleum high heat all over it before install.

Part 17303 is aluminum, part 617303 is stainless, fits both JKU and JK.

Nope, called Gibson to confirm. It will work for the years listed, as well as the 2012. He said the 3.8's may be a little louder than the 3.6.

firehawk 02-19-2012 10:52 AM

 hi, if you want it to sound great drop a v8 in it, that will do the trick,
the gm ls1, ford 5.0, hemi...all great, just kidding ...sounds good..:whistling:

Baby Huey 02-19-2012 01:49 PM

I also have the Gibson set up on my 07 JKUX 3.8L 6 speed, it was installed by the PO. I was worried it would sound too much like a Ricer with a Fart Pipe (I hate those things !!) But in honesty it doesn't sound too bad to me ( and I'm 62 yrs old ).
I have ringing ears ( Nam 69-70) so noise kinda irritates me a little. At certain RPM's the Gibson sound kinda resonates a little inside the cab (Hard Top). I don't know how much this will be a problem if at all, while crawling around a trail in 4 LO..... No tires so I'll have to wait to find out.
So far around town and the few drives I have taken in the woods on logging roads, it seems fine.
As for a performance increase ,I cannot comment on that since it was installed when I bought the Jeep....
Possibly the Resonation may go away with a little bit longer pipes on the exit side, get em out beyond the bumper a little more, but then that ads to other issues off the road.... "BH"

basecamper 02-19-2012 05:48 PM

Very nice!

New2012JEEP 02-20-2012 09:44 AM

Thanks guys, ya it does seem to be a nice powerful note, and is constant(VVT?). You don't hear valves chiming or anything.

Riccochet 02-20-2012 11:32 AM

Sounds good. I'm sold!

New2012JEEP 02-22-2012 09:08 PM

Thanks Ricc, all that talk on YFE thread has me back to thinking about CAI...Sigh...

Ha, I am done! Overspent considering only had the Jeep almost 3 months, eek. No more mods:banghead:

And I got it very cheap on those links I post, $256 shipped, versus Gibsons $400.

Belto 03-14-2012 04:16 PM
