Wife vs Jeep

I laugh all the time. My wife hates my Jeep. It's gotten comical and I think it's almost become a game. Does anyone else's wife bust their chops? It's like a jealous girlfriend thing LOL

I haven't even taken possession of my JK-Rubicon yet (ordered 12/12/11 & scheduled for pickup this week) and my wife is already busting my chops. It might have something to do with the hour I spend on WF every night, or my ever changing list of "needed" mods, or me telling her to spend less because said mods aren't free :)

My fiance loves my 07 JK, and she already knew how to drive a stick so I won't have to teach her, thank god. She likes it so much that she wants me to get a JKU as our second "family" vehicle as putting our 1 year old in the back of the 2 door gets annoying. She does however give me "the look" when I propose new mods my jeep "needs" the most recent was why do you need a different lift, it's already lifted. But baby... this one is "safer" it is better quality. It's a constant battle between my money I want to spend, and my money she'll let me spend. Getting like 6k for my tax return and I will spend 3k on the JK.

Luckily my wife loves the Jeep about as much as I do and sees that it is really important to me, as far as the mods go, unfortunately since they aren't free, those have yet to really begin.

It's hard to justify the "why" when it comes to mods. My wife is no fool, but when it comes to the Jeep, its in one ear and out the other I think.

strider_mt2k 02-19-2012 12:57 PM

Naa, the wife has been on board from day one...mostly because I've wanted a Jeep since before I met her. (22 years together this coming anniversary)

firehawk 02-19-2012 01:04 PM

:dance:hi, i understand the wife thing, out to dinner helps, flowers also good,
some bling, keep her in the loop,,.when she sees ur happy all will be good,
better a Jeep than another woman...u.. may get more input, i am sure!!:whistling:
i could write a book..

jp2611 02-19-2012 01:06 PM

She USED to think I was crazy about the things I talked about...what the Jeep could/ would do....how it is "safer" IMO than most other vehicles on the road...how 4"-9" of snow is no big deal leave 5 min earlier....how the stereo up and top down cruising in the warm weather is great......How a Jeep is "a way of life".....and Jeep people are "different".

After riding in LIL RED off and on for several years....she started to understand.

NOW THAT SHE IS DRIVING BLU----SHE REALLY DOES UNDERSTAND!!!!

Now she is the one looking at MODS...BUT FOR BLU!!! NOT RED!

JIMBOX 02-19-2012 01:11 PM

:whistling:If you have SERIOUS trouble with your wife/jeep--you should get rid of one, or the other--

If your jeep is YOUR LIFE--get rid of the wife, if your wife is your life (think aboutit)-get rid of the jeep !

Mine loves to drive mine, but will never admit it. She has made little comments here and there about something about it being cool, etc...

I have heard the, spend money on this (Insert Random Household Cleaning Item), instead of your Jeep.

It's cheaper to keep her! Have to find a happy medium, even with 2 kids, my wife loves the Jeep, especially witht he top and doors off! :thumb:

My wife is as bad about the Jeep, Harley and the Guns. Se will dig out the sites for
accessories looking just as bad as me. When it comes to guns in this household there
are always two of each. She was a Jet Engine Mech in the AF and gets greasy right
beside me doing the work in the garage also.

I don't know about that one. Try having two Jeeps and the wife wanting as many mods as you have. Plus the trouble of having of learning both the TJ and the JK. Her Jeep is getting expensive, but what the heck I drive it too..

bofa 02-19-2012 01:58 PM

My wife loves the idea of getting a Jeep. She's actually increased the price with options more than I have and is already green-lighting certain mods. This is wayyyyy easier that it was with my motorcycles or 350Zs. I should have done this a long time ago!

Baby Huey 02-19-2012 02:01 PM

Ya gotta try to keep the wife happy, after all, it's a lot easier to buy Jeep Parts with two incomes than on yer own....If she isn't workin, help her find a job, it's true love when you find her a good payin job so she's not layin around the house listening to the kids fight and watching Maury drinking all the Beer....Being Bored.
Bordom is very bad for a woman, they can lay around and dream up all kinds of home projects for you to do .... Good luck with this guys !!.....
Actually my wife likes the new "Limo"....She likes to ride in it and Monday we will take our first drive in it together for a spin up in the woods. Tarz are pretty helpless so I won't get it off the road much, but it'll be a fun day ,Well....I hope so... "BH"

Dusthol 02-19-2012 05:30 PM

I feel your pain. My wife doesn't understand either. She once asked if I could leave her door on if I wanted to go doorless. :nonono:

Don't even get me started on mods...

willee51 02-19-2012 05:50 PM

Yea............

... installed my "KC" windshield lights late last night :thumb:

Wife goes into the garage this morning, comes back with this aweful expression on her face, "what are those things on the windshield of YOUR Jeep" You ruined it

Life goes on :dance: :rofl::rofl:

No problems, she likes it as much as I do, it's not mine it's ours as is the car she drives, couldn't ask for a better woman.

SilverSport 02-19-2012 06:12 PM

My experience is keep the wife happy and she will let me keep the Jeep happy! :D

MotorCityBear 02-19-2012 06:40 PM

My truck was getting old so I traded it in on a 2011 Grand Cherokee Limited for the wife and I took her Honda Accord. She loves the GC so I ordered a 2012 Sahara for me. (I hate the Honda). The Sahara shoul dbe here in a few weeks.

Now she says she wants the Sahara and I should drive the Grand Cherokee. Are you freakin kidding me?? She wants to take the top off and use it as her convertable. No way I am giving up the Wrangler. I see a battle brewing on the horizon.

Another Guy In A Jeep 02-19-2012 06:42 PM

^ouch.....

Stargazer 02-19-2012 08:02 PM

I feel lucky that my wife understands my need to mod my Jeep. She has been riding shot gun in one since we started dating. But it would be a lot easier if I still had the ole CJ. But kids and safety put us in an 07 JKU. Best of both worlds if you ask me.

joe002 02-19-2012 08:38 PM

On the way home from the dealership in the Jeep my wife asks, "So, when are we gong to lift it"? :D

SilverBolt 02-19-2012 08:41 PM

The opposite here. Jeep will be for the wife. She is giving up a $70k BMW for a Jeep. She has the Quadratech catalog memorized. I have a lot of wrenching to do once it hits the driveway.

Guadzilla 02-19-2012 09:00 PM

Lol love all the posts! We're currently in heavy negotiations for a lift. When asked why I need to liftthe Jeep, all I could come up with was "because its cool" hahaha
