Ouch...

Just another downfall to the 3.6....

Too much power! :hide:

LBrito 02-21-2012 11:48 PM

Ouch, glad they made it through that unharmed. Man, it's not my Jeep, but I feel for the owner.
It did seem like "all she's got" was a lot more than what was expected...

GeckoJK 02-21-2012 11:54 PM

Wow! Awful to see a beautiful Jeep get destroyed like that. :( Seemed like they floored it. Glad nobody was seriously hurt.

marc1230 02-21-2012 11:59 PM

That's a real bad day!

MarineHawk 02-22-2012 12:03 AM

Bad spotting/driving.

rics1997 02-22-2012 12:03 AM

Hey, at least they drove it out of there in the end and no one was hurt.

XJ Knight 02-22-2012 12:07 AM

I love that it fired right up and was driven away.. That should buff right out..

i82much 02-22-2012 12:14 AM

Easy for me to say, but ... I don't get why he stayed in it after he cleared the dip.

MarineHawk 02-22-2012 12:19 AM

He probably was pretty inexperienced and, if so, the spotter should have warned him to take it easy and throttle down quickly because, I dunno, he was ligned up straight into a sharp drop off into a deep creek bed, and had to make a sharp left turn to avoid that coming out of the crevice. Also, IMO, he should have had no trouble traversing that crevice at low speed to begin with--and in first gear. Flooring the pedal is rarely a good idea when offroading, especially when you're near a dangerous obstacle or drop off.

wrangler0 02-22-2012 12:38 AM

Last time I went off road I was told:
Go as slow as possible and as fast as necessary....

He didn't need to go that fast....especially through such a small patch of mud

suicideking 02-22-2012 01:11 AM

Just seemed like a bad idea to cross something with such a large drop off on the sides.

Also agree that he probably could've gotten over that at very low speed.

Damn shame. I hope his insurance is paid up.

muddinjk 02-22-2012 01:39 AM

Very very bad driving that jeep would go through that in reverse idleing lol

MrSig 02-22-2012 04:42 AM

Too much speed was his problem!

sneck 02-22-2012 05:34 AM

yeah i was looking at that opening shot, trying to figure out how he was possibly going to flip it. I'd hate to see this guy in the snow, or in the rain, or in traffic. Really anywhere where the driver should be paying attention.

rs87277 02-22-2012 05:51 AM

Just glad no one was injured.
Thank you insurance!!!

Cosmic Charlie 02-22-2012 06:11 AM

Bad driving/spotting or not, that's some scarey stuff. I do love that the occupants walked away mostly unharmed and that the Rubi was able to drive out.

Agree that there was never ANY reason to use that much gas in this situation. With the terrain and height of the dip, even a stock jeep could have crawled up that in 4H or especially 4L and with only steering wheel turning. When the camera guy said "when you get to 2nd, give it all you've got" I cringed.

GREEN-MACHINE 02-22-2012 08:08 AM

maybe the driver thought he was in a drag race,, he held it wfo untill the jeep was tipping over,,, VERY bad judgement on every ones part. good to see them all walk away

New2012JEEP 02-22-2012 08:16 AM

Inexperienced driver. I think when the Jeep dipped down and suspension bumped, he freaked out and kept pedal to the metal.

tribangle 02-22-2012 08:19 AM

Glad everyone seemed physically okay. I'm sure mentally scarred for life.

Question:
Would insurance pay for something like that?

X2 Made me think of John Candy! Expensive offroading lesson!

depends on the insurance company ,,, or how good the owner can lie... here in mass the insurance company's do not have to pay,, reason being , you and you alone caused the damage,, think of it this way ( as explained by my insurance company) if you get mad at your wife and take a hammer to her car,, we're not paying.

Should. Depends on the insurer though. I actually had called mine yesterday to ask that "If my jeep were perched on top of a large rock, and rolled down, into a tree, and then fell off into the river, am I covered?"

yes. But generally only the first time

Fine, but just don't video something different or you'll get caught committing a thing called "insurance fraud," which is not good.

kerryva 02-22-2012 09:12 AM

Mentally and financially scarred.... :nonono: I cant wait to pick up my JK-Rubicon on Saturday. You will not see a repeat of this in Silver!

NCflyer 02-22-2012 09:16 AM

Well you said "give it what she's got"
