rising gas prices

Who all is still taking their jeep(s) out with the gas prices steadily rising?

56cj5 02-24-2012 02:06 PM

I have no choice it's my only vehicle. !!

crafty 02-24-2012 02:12 PM

If I stop wheeling I might snap on my coworkers

X2 but then even if it wasn't my daily I'd still drive it as much as possible

crafty 02-24-2012 02:21 PM

And leaving Tuesday for Morris Mountain followed by Choco---back the following Sunday. Somebody needed a spotter/relief driver so just paying half the gas!:punk:

jetskier111 02-24-2012 02:45 PM

Might be extreme but I started donating plasma to fund my gas tank. And why not, they pay $240/month here just for me to sit and give some plasma. Ok by me.

Have actually checked into that before but the hours wouldn't work around my job.

Abnmarine 02-24-2012 03:01 PM

I'll continue to drive regardless of the prices. I enjoy the Jeep too much.

What is plasma and where do they pull it from?

Tjdude08 02-24-2012 05:48 PM

Im the same. I have other another car that gets over 30mpg but once spring hits im parking her and dropping the top

chucky cheese 02-24-2012 06:58 PM

Gas prices negative. Responses positive. Sounds like the jeeps will roll even if gas costs an arm and a leg. I can't wait to see the threads. I need an auto. I cut off my clutch leg for gas! I can't wave. I cut off my arm for gas and cannot steer and wave!

I also have a Honda which gets great gas mileage, but the feel good factor is not there. I will continue to drive the bigger gas eater to get the I feel great feeling.

JPi1 02-24-2012 08:22 PM

I have a license plate frame on my motorhome that says "There's more to life than gas mileage". I will continue to drive my jk, grand Cherokee Hemi, and the motorhome.

Mitchness 02-24-2012 08:28 PM

Not gonna lie, I have been rocking the Honda more since gas is becoming more expensive and I only make $11/hr, but any time the opportunity to wheel comes around I certainly don't turn my nose up at it.

PecosRiver 02-24-2012 09:31 PM

I own a gas station, so I figure the cost of my driving my Jeep into the cost of my gas. Jealous yet?

Baby Huey 02-26-2012 02:21 PM

Yea, I gotta drive the "Silver Box" at least twice a week taking my Grandkidz to Skool..I have another driver (Mazda PU, 4 cyl.) so it's no big deal, but the extra driver needs a clutch Cylinder so I gotta fix that this week !
Gas here in Western Orygun is $3.999999999 /Gal. (Shell) the rest are close... "BH"

arctic318 02-26-2012 02:27 PM

I have a nissan sentry also, but somehow always manage to get in the jeep to go to work.

ballistx 02-26-2012 05:22 PM

all in the difference

Driving 12,000 miles per year and getting 20 mpg on the Wrangler 4cyl takes about 600 gallons of gas. If I got 30 mpg that would be 400 gallons, or 200 gallons difference. That is $800/year difference.

If I am going to have another vehicle because of mileage, then the TOTAL cost of that vehicle, sans gas, could be no more than $800 per year. That is $65/month for depreciation, interest on investment, insurance and maintenance/repair. Don't think that works out, so cheaper to have one vehicle and pay the extra $800/year.

It takes quite a bit of mileage difference before it pays to have a 2nd vehicle to save gas money.

lindel 02-26-2012 05:27 PM

My TJ is my only vehicle. My wife has a 1987 Grand Wagoneer. The TJ gets the best mileage of any vehicle we've got!

Blackened 02-26-2012 06:22 PM

How many more gas threads do we need on the forum. I mean I doubt people would be posting here often if they weren't driving their jeeps.

Owen_TJ 02-26-2012 06:28 PM

I normally put my dd away and make my R6 my primary vehicle in the spring/summer/fall but will still drive it like normal when i'm not on the bike...

and if i didnt have the bike...i'd still drive it...

I agree with blackened lol, about a million gas threads...

Barrie 02-26-2012 06:50 PM

We do not need 4 gas price threads going. This is the only one that will be left open.
