Are the standard speakers ok?

Hi Everyone!

I just wanted to touch base with you regarding some of the options for the 2012 Wrangler. I have ordered the standard speakers, as I thought the sound quality would be indifferent for a Jeep with the roof off. Can anyone with the standard speakers and the Sirius XM Sat radio comment on their quality ?

Thanks.

They seem perfectly fine to me. Usually I listen to classical music on Sirius, and the fidelity is good.

Stock speakers in any vehicle suck IMO

Only you can answer this question. I like my oem speakers, others don't. The beauty of a Wrangler is that there are so many options for personalizing your jeep,

They are enough to get you by.

No of course they aren't stellar, but they will get over road the noise...kinda, and as they say, "beats nothin'"

If you are asking, you will replace them.

I currently don't have xm but I can hear music from many other sources. Not sure why you ask specifically for Sirium XM. I just changed out my stock speakers for Polk Audio DXI650 and they are by far better. I am going to amp them if I can ever find the time to run the wires.

Don't sell your sound system short just because its in a jeep. A jeep can rock too you know. Somehow you need to listen to an aftermarket setup while next to yours so you can really hear the difference. Otherwise do what I did, trust in the advice of all these fellow jeepers and change the head, rip those stock speakers out and amp them. Good luck on getting just the right combination. There's where most folks can't quite seem to agree on.

quite adequate for this stage in my own needs-cycle....if you're an 'audiophile' plan on spending whatever amount of $ will make you smile.

On the other hand, after decades of upgrades in the sound for most of my own rigs, this system is pleasing enough to listen to those few times I want it on.

I love learning to embrace my inner curmudgeon.

Have had mine for a couple days....so far so good but my installed system in my Neon was stellar. May have to upgrade at some point. I have not been in it long enough to know if there is an equalizer..if not then I would say it may be an adequate system but not the best. Sirius sounds good so far.

New2012JEEP 02-24-2012 10:10 PM

Just changing the speakers will change the sound immensely. I have about 200 put into sound, and am fairly happy considering I used to be an audiophile. Glad I never bought into SACD btw, ha

judofish 02-24-2012 10:25 PM

It's really your preference. I didn't like the sound with my stock speakers. I replaced all of my stock speakers (dash, tweeters and sound bar). I also added a sub in a custom enclosure as well as amps for the sub and the system. But, if you're happy with the stock sound, rock the paper cones. It just didn't work for me.

Feta2006 02-24-2012 11:48 PM

wow.... thanks everyone for the quick and honest responses. I feel a bit better that I didn't fork out the extra cash for the Infinity speakers, as I probably would not be able to tell the difference. I have the Alpine 368 watt system in our Dodge Journey, at it seems to really pack a punch.... but again... my son is sixteen... with sixteen I had a Sony Walkman, not a Jeep Wrangler!!

Tanksta 02-25-2012 09:41 AM

I got the sirius with the "low-grade" radio/speakers and I gotta say...
I am moderately surprised how good it sounds for paper cone junk!

Speakers were on my "Must do immediately" list, but for now, the stockers are fine, and speakers have been shuffled down to the "one day" list.

Still going to upgrade, just not right away.

I got the factory Infinity 368 watt 7 speaker system and it suits my needs well. Not great but not bad either. In fact, I'd be tempted to say its the best factory system I've ever owned out of 5 cars in my life.

snowtime 02-25-2012 10:21 AM

I'm going to upgrade my sound system. To me the sound is very flat. I have to say out of all the cars I've owned this is the worst stereo system I have had. I'll be changing speakers to fit in the stock sound bar and sub. Also will be doing amplifier for some more boost. Right now it is not enough for me with the hardtop on and with warmer weather coming I can tell it won't be good with the top off.

Omar Brannstrom 02-25-2012 10:32 AM

Hi

I have a Suzuki Jimny with 2 speakers I really hope and I am pretty sure it will be better when I got my wrangler after 11 months of wait the Infinity 368 watt 7 speaker system.
