What Jeep is best for my needs?

Buying my First Jeep in August and wanted some advice. Im a electrian and I need a jeep/truck/suv that i can jump a curb with and park in the mud and not have to worry about getting it dirty or messing it up. I drive a 99 Tacoma right now and it's been a great truck but it has 378,000 miles on it and not sure how long it's going to last. I love driving in the snow, mud and off road trails and need something that can pull a trailer for camping supplies and fire wood. Im looking at 4 door jeep rubicons right now and would just like so advice.

If not going to make use of some of the features of the rubicon I say save some cash and get a sport model.

Otherwise I think you're on right track. Are you going new 2012 or 2007-2011?

I use my current Truck for alot for off roading and for work I wanted the built in GPS that is in the Sahara or Rub. I guess i could go after market for that tho if need be. and was looking at 2012 4 door. and after doing some research was going to get a AEV front bumper. Got my 4x4 tacoma stuck many times and would be nice if I didn't have to make a phone call for help or pay a tow truck to get me out. Not to mention the bumper just looks sweet on the jeep :)

Just do your research first.

What are you looking at. Auto/manual?

I just bought a 07. Been fine but some 07-08's have issues.

If still trying to decide how much "JEEPNESS" you want, (sorry made it up) maybe look around check with some local Jeepers clubs see if someone would be willing to take you off-road or trail ride?

Another new member asked a similar question, basically Sport or Rubi, and while a Rubi is great, and has all the geehaws to make anyone smile, and will probably never leave you in a position you can not get out of----depending on where you go, especially if you have a winch,----- for me and my "off-roading" with other Jeepers, I have yet to drive into a situation that I couldn't drive away from...without a winch or help from another Jeeper. I carefully pick my lines, and don't push the envelope as I don't want to fix broken parts.

What I am saying is stock out of the box, a Jeep will flat "outperform" most other 4wd vehicles. SO if it is mild off -roading with fairly decent trails, and access to camping/ ability to pull a trailer..you may be fine with a JKU Sport...I suggest the JKU or 4dr for the towing option...longer wheelbase. Sport or Rubi is a personal choice that you need to make based on your wants/ lifestyle/ needs/ and wallet.

The GPS thing in my mind is a no brainer----get a hand held or dash mount ......than can use it hiking/ hunting/ or fishing as well.

Well the Rubicon will have 4.10's in the axles 07-11.
Should be fine with a AUTO.

Yeah after doing some research it's going to be a 4 door jeep. 2 door is spec'ed for 2k tow capacity. 4 door is 3,500 due to it's larger wheel base. Plus I find myself ride sharing alot so more seating means I can hold 3 more pple easy and would only have to drive 1/4 of the time :) plus it's easier to carry ppl around at work not having to fold a seat forward to let them get to the backseat.

Took a 2012 Sahara unlimited for a test drive today. Im totaly excited about getting a jeep now. Tobad the dealer didn't have a rubicon I could test drive. Three more months and I should be all set up to get a new jeep still figureing out what one I'll end up with.

I'm going to say something blasphemous...if you are buying a vehicle as a daily driver...get a Yoda. I've had many vehicles over the last 40 years and the ones that I know the least about are Toyotas. I became very knowledgable about so-called Ford tuff trucks when I had 2 of them.

Get the 4dr Rubi. 4:10's and longer wheelbase and air lockers. It fits your needs and you'll love it,

I dd a '01 Sport. I have to get to and get around job sites and carry a small amount of equipment, most sites are rugged and at times very muddy.

Only in a Jeep!

I tried the Tundra out but didn't like it, The Rock Warrior was the only one that I semi liked in the Tundra family. and the Tocoma is to small I have one now and Im looking for something with alot more space.
