TJ/LJ lift question

I am still trying to decide which lift to go with and I have a question. I have a 2000 TJ that I plan on installing a 4" lift. I have a hard top that I run in the winter and plan on running topless in the summer. What is the difference in the TJ and LJ lifts? Does the LJ have heavier rear springs and if so should I get those since I have a hard top? If so will it sit to high in the rear with the hard top off? Thanks for your input.

get TJ stuff designed for a TJ with a hard top.

"Old Man Emu"

I didn't know there was a different lift for a TJ with a hard top verses a TJ with a soft top.

The Old Man Emu lifts I can find only go up to a 2.5" and I want a 4", or am I missing something?

As far as i know there is no difference. Unless something new is out i dont know about. Hard Top soft top makes no difference with the lift. Would be kinda like a different lift kit for how fat a person is...oh wait...your over 250...you will need these springs instead! lol...Just get the kit designed for what your running. If its a TJ...then get a 4" for a TJ.

With the lift I am running, the only designation between soft top and hard top was the shock valving.

OME makes 4" springs and shocks, but they don't sell them in a kit. You'd need to buy them individually and build your own "kit"...which is what smart people do anyway.

If you're looking for a more complete "kit", take a look at the Savvy/Currie 4" kit.

Jeep actually used several different spring rates from the factory depending what the jeep was ordered with....hard top vs soft top, both tops, NP231 vs NV241OR, auto vs manual, 4-cyl vs 6-cyl, etc. A few companies sell lift springs with rates and lengths taylored to specific combos...for stock weight jeeps, or those with heavier bumpers, winch, etc. OME and Currie are examples.
