different tires

so in my recent first post i claimed to have 37" tires on the old hoss, but as some of you probably know it really sucks driving route 70 in colorado with something like that. i am wondering what would happen if i got some basic lightweight wheels with stock size tires for highway driving. would it be dangerous as far as the 4.5" lift making it too top heavy? i feel like my gas mileage would drastically improve, and i rally couldnt care less what it looks like. i'd like to make it to Moab, with my big wheels on a trailer, and do it in 5 tanks of gas instead of 10 (exaggerating, but barely). does anyone else do this, as in maintain a set of highway wheels apart from the playtime wheels? i imagine it to be beneficial, but just worried about any safety issues.

thanks!!

I don't foresee and safety issues and if you don't mind what a 4.5" lift looks like with stock wheels/tires, then do what you want. You will need to program your speedo back and forth when you switch, otherwise you will never get accurate MPG numbers.

I think that would look horrible, but you say you don't care. Plus I think you would lose too much tire width and footprint for it to be comfortable to drive. Stock tires are narrow

don't want to regear your rig and just run the 37's?
