Side/Nerf Bar - Suggestions and Feedback

Hello,

I have a fairly new 2011 Silver JK and I'm finally in a position to where I can start adding to it. I'm looking to add a Side Bar/Nerf Bar and I'm looking for any advice or feedback anyone might have on brands, style, installation, etc.

It seems to me that the most common (and cheap) Side Bar's I see is like a "platform", which I don't like at all. I prefer a single bar nerf bar.

One that I've been looking at is a Rampage Endurance Stainless Steel Side Bar. (Rampage Products 9427 - Rampage Products Endurance Side Bars in Polished Stainless for 07-12 Jeep® Wrangler JK 2 Door - Quadratec) Does anyone have any experience with this side bar? Is it good quality? Do you suggest any others?

Also, any suggestions on where to buy this equipment? Is Quadratec is a good site or are there better options?

Sorry for all the newbie questions, but this is my first Jeep and I'm excited to start adding on to it.

Welcome! Check out the Ace Rock Sliders with Jason at KrawlOff-Road. I don't know anything about the Rampage product, but the Ace rails are STURDY / actually offer protection, as well as provide a step for ingress and top access. Jason delivers great customer service and prices.

You can often find products cheaper at amazon

What you are looking at will certainly work, but for nothing more than a step. If that is all you are after, then that is fine. However, they will not provide much, if any, protection if you are intending to take it offroad. The Ace rails like MLPeep posted would work as a step and provide a good amount of protection as well.

If all you are wanting is a step, I would encourage you to look through the for sale section at this, and other, forums as well as CraigsList for some stock 07+ side steps. They can be picked up cheaply.

I have a set of those nerf bars at the side of my house looking for a new home. They are black though but IMO they look better than chrome on a silver jk.

Is there any damage to them? If not, I'll buy them from you

Hahaha thats ok. I like it dirty! But nahh, I wish I would have known or paid attention to you if you said you had them. I should have never found this forum because all it does is encourage me to spend money and get my mod game up! But for real, I will take them if you dont mind. No hurry though, I got what I NEED in the mail!

You won't be disappointed.

JKatfish 03-03-2012 10:15 PM

Ace are very sturdy compared to some other "steps". They do stick out a bit more. Make sure you have a grinder for the washers, then the install is a cinch...the stock washers are tough!

Elmer_fuddpucker 01-06-2013 09:11 AM

How about the NFab steps/rails? Do they offer protection in addition to that step?
