Still cant find out where the noise is coming from
I have a 97 wrangler 2.5 4 cyl 5 speed every time I turn right and when I hit bumps every now and then my jeep sounds like something is rattling I can't figure out what it It's a mix between rattling and grinding any help?

Sounds are hard to diagnose because they are hard to describe. It could be bad u joints, bad or broken sway bar links, bad shock, t- case shifter linkage, and the list goes on. Your best bet would be to upload a video of the sound to YouTube and then post the link on here for us to hear so we can give you a better suggestion. :thumb: oh and do you know where the sound is coming from? Front, rear, or Side that will help narrow the list of could be's as well

It's coming from the front end it sounds like

I had the same noise you decribe - and after replacing both 'totally' blown front u-joints, the noise was still there. On right hand turns specifically.

Wound up being a broken sway bar link. I replaced both sides - just because.

I still have the noise I changed the sway bar links and the u joints im begining to think it may be in the front axle

it could be the water pump? i know mine needs replaced and every time i hit a bump it chirps at me... just something maybe to look into?

Do you have a lift kit by any chance? I had a grinding and rattling noise on my jeep everytime I turned or hit a huge bump. I crawled under my jeep and I found 3 nice rings on the shaft from where the skid plate was grinding on the shaft. To fix that, I just removed my skid but I will be buying a skidrow so I have some sort of protection.

Check your skid plates, there could be a sign of grinding around that area.

Before you go digging into the axle and spend tons of money, are you sure it's not just a bad shock? I mean you're looking at $280 for 4 brand new high quality shocks versus hundreds and hundreds trying to replace everything in your axle.

It could be a shock I guess but im not sure it is and no I dont have a lift I want to lift it soon I just dont want to till I fix everythong first. I need to check thw shock I never thought about that. The problem is it was hit in thw front end before I owned it so im not sure hpw bad and what it had done
