Catalytic converter removal
Does anyone know the correct way (assuming there is one)to jumper the rear 02 sensor wires as i have eliminated the cat and now have the check engine light and high idle.(big suprise) I do not need the emmisions where i live and have a couple of hours looking into it with no solution.Glad I found you guys for more useful info in the future. it is a 1997 TJ and i love it. Thanks for any thoughts.Scott

I have installed flowmasters on several vehicles, but always left the catholic converter alone. Sorry I can't help you with that one.

They make O2 sensor simulators that wire directly to your sensor wires. These are made to send a normal 02 sensor signal to your engine's computer to turn off the check engine light and make it run normally. When I put in my new exhaust I originally left out the O2 sensor and purchased one of the simulators ($30). They work fine driving around town, but when you take them on the highway and put some load on your engine for an extended period of time, the thing will get all messed up and your car will run like crap. I ended up taking it out and installing an O2 sensor. As far as I know, one of those simulators is the only way to bypass the O2 sensor without a catalytic converter. If you just use your Jeep for driving around town, then I guess one would work, but I would recommend installing a catalytic converter and O2 sensor. You can buy universal hi-flow cats on eBay for pretty cheap (not much more than a sensor simulator).

weld the fitting back on in about the stock location.
make sure there is at least a "small" hole in the pipe
install a 'help' brand spark plug antifoul fitting, {if you still get the error code}
put O2 sensor back in, done

this is for the lower or rear O2 sensor, forward or upper O2 sensor needs to be installed in the header as it should. no errors no codes no cats..

around there they dont do a tail pipe sniff, just check the computer to see if it says everything is good, passes every time!!!
