Lift 2.5" or 4"?
My Jeep has the stock suspension and is due for replacing. I have been looking for a lift kit but I am on a tight budget. I have been debating weather to get the rough county 2.5 inch or the 4 inch lift. I am going to be running BF goodrich 31's for awhile, but I would like to upgrade to 33's in the future. I am wondering if the 2.5 inch would ride better than the 4 inch? Is there anything extra that has to be done to the 4 inch lift over the 2.5 inch lift?

I have a 3" body lift on my yj that was done before I bought it. I have 33's on it at the moment. They are pretty tight, however I need to upgrade my suspension as well but here is what 3" body lift looks like with 33's if that helps your decision at all.

From what you are running and want to run in the future, I say 4" hands down. They cost the same, and the 4" is a more complete kit. 4" and 31's doesn't look bad at all after the springs settle, but at first you will be like :eek:

33's will not fit without hitting on a 2.5" lift for sure.

I have a 2.5" lift with 32's but some cutting, bl and schackles to make them fit. I coul dfit 33's though with the extra work i've done.

now correct me if im wrong but im heard of people ordering the 4'' kit but requesting the 2.5'' springs. They they the 2.5 inch springs are stronger and better and give you still about a 4'' lift because they are different springs. and in ordering the 4'' kit you get all the extra stuff you wouldn't if you ordered the 2.5''. so all the good stuff and stronger/better springs.

i would do a spring over axle conversion. then you get upwards of 6" of lift and you get to ride on your stock springs which ride better than a lot of 4" lift springs. and for any lift above 3" you really should do a slip yoke eliminator. the more you lift it the more you're gonna have problems with drive shaft vibration which that will eliminate plus give you a stronger driveline.

my current jeep when i got it had a 3" body lift and a 3" suspension lift and clears 33's really well. i'm not a big fan of body lifts because of the stresses they place on the hardware. plus my blocks are cracking. i'm taking the body lift off and probably gonna order some new stock springs and just do the s.o.a.
