Dont know if my Jeep is lifted

Weird situation. I bought a 2008 JKUR, and Ive noticed that it is significantly taller than all the other stock Jeeps I park next to. My Rubi looks pretty much stock, and the guy I bought it from didnt say anything about a lift, but its a good 3 - 3.5 inches taller than the Sports and Saharas Ive looked at. Searched a bunch of posts here, and everyone sems to say that the Rubis are not any taller than the other models. I realize that tire size makes a difference, but 3+ inches seems like a lot to chalk up to bigger tires.

What size tires do you have? Can you post some pictures?

Side pics please....

ESP 03-05-2012 10:40 PM

Looking at the pic in your profile you're rubi is not lifted. Your sitting on stock 255/75/17 wheels/tires and probably parked next to some with 225/75/16s.

Based on your pic, your jeep is not any where near 3+ inches.

Ramius 03-05-2012 10:56 PM

Yeah Im running stock 255/75 17s. As for how you can tell from that pic IDK. Im 6'3 and I have to look up at the roof of my Jeep, its nearly as tall as me. The ones Ive been parked next to, I could EASILY see over. So there was a definite difference of 3+ inches. It wasnt just one or two Jeeps. I compared mine to 3 different rigs that belong to coworkers and 4 or 5 that Ive encountered out and about. Dont mean to argue, but that seems like an awful lot of short Jeeps to run into.

JPetru82 03-05-2012 10:58 PM

closer up pics would help greatly!!

Ramius 03-05-2012 10:59 PM

Im not saying that it is lifted, just that my experience doesnt jibe with the info on this site when people say there is no difference in model height.

Ramius 03-05-2012 11:00 PM

I'll get pics on tomorrow. Its dark now.

Your avatar pic clearly shows the height of your stock bumper to the OEM wheel's/tires. It is not lifted. As others have requested, side pics or suspension pics would be very helpful.

Jeep lunatic 03-05-2012 11:07 PM

Um like you could squat down and look at the suspension compared to your buddies stock suspension? Clear out the trees and maybe you could see the forest?

Found one but its parked on a pretty steep downhill.

Ramius 03-05-2012 11:09 PM

And if I look under there at the suspension, what would I be looking for? If I knew that, I would need to ask for help.

Ramius 03-05-2012 11:09 PM

Springs and shocks dont look all that different. LOL.

Yep.. No lift.

Most lifts rid the factory rake also.

2.5
With STOCK tires.

Look at the arms

kbwwolf 03-05-2012 11:20 PM

If that's lifted I'll pick something out of my boot tread and snack on it. :)

You could also carry a tape measure to take measurements from the ground to the bottom of the frame. Then again maybe your Jeep makes you proud so you stand straighter when your next to your Jeep lol :P

ESP 03-05-2012 11:31 PM

Gives me an idea about what it would look like with the 3.5 LA kit. :whistling:

Thanks for the responses. OK so its not lifted, didnt really think it was. But how do I account for the extra height. Parked next to a Sport this morning, same rims and tires as mine. Mines about 2 in taller. Oh well, I guess it doesnt really matter. Thanks to all who responded.

Depends on spring rates. Look at the tag on your springs. Last 2 numbers.

Highest are front 19 and back 60.

Going to take a guess and assume you possibly have 18/58's
Where as the jeep you compared to 15/55's

Still though 2" is not common. Tire size will play a small role also.

Daniel_M 03-06-2012 10:55 AM

Wishful thinking maybe?

Offically they are different heights:

2012 Sport : 70.8 in (1799.5 mm)
2012 Rubicon: 72.3 in (1840 mm)

If the Sport was ordered with the 32" inch tires it would have come with stiffer shocks\springs and should be as high as the Rubicon, however if it is stock Sport and they put on Rubicon wheels\tires aftwards, softer stock shocks and springs, thus still sitting lower.

Another Guy In A Jeep 03-06-2012 11:12 AM

I have a 2in lift on my jeep and that thing is lower than it. So i say not lifted. One thing I can say is that if the suspension if starting to give out, it can sag a little bit. How old are the jeeps you are comparing ur jku to?

Rubicon has nothing to do with spring rates. JKU is more apt to have them.

Those listed heights are assuming the stock sport has 29-30" tires..... I think :)
