Best suspension shop in ABQ

I need help finding a good suspension shop to do an install on my JK. I am about to order the Terraflex 3", MetalCloak Gamechanger 3.5", or AEV 3.5" kit, wheels and tires, and other mods I will need. I also know I need an exhaust modification for my 2012 JK for the lift I want. I would like to have everything done in one place. I know about 4 Wheel Parts, Desert Rat, and Trucks Unique. I was hoping there might be other options for a more custom experience. Any suggestions? I appreciate any help...

Wow, no one has any suggestions? I would do it myself, but I don't have the tools needed. I guess I will have to go with one of the stores I mentioned...

There is another called Overland Motorsports, he is active on the local forum NMoffroad. Have never used them but everyone says great things about them, there is also a fab shop if I am not mistaken thats quite active on there.

NOw there is an idear, just watch the drinkers other wise you will have an bunch of semi drunk "mechanics" then things will get fun. I can see it now "how in the .... when did the wrench get welded there"

lo lo 03-11-2012 02:01 PM

Lol. Some great ideas. I have gone the route of having wrenching parties in the past with motorcycles and other vehicles. They were always good times, but I ended up having to re-do something later, because it was installed wrong, or a bolt broke or stripped. Lol Thanks for the suggestions...

Never heard of them. Is it a garage or a dealership? I ended going to Four Wheel Parts. Those guys were kick ass helping me out. Saved me some money too on labor! Talk to Robert if you need something. He drives the white lifted TJ out front on 35's.

Looks to be an independent shop. Sell/install most major brand names. 4 bay service area. A few blocks west of Washington on S side of street. Haven't been in there yet myself. Not much feedback either pro or con on local chat lines. Curious if anyone else has used them.

Nice build looks good!

Does Four Wheel Parts do installs if you already have your own parts?

If I can't do it I use Albuquerque Tire, they have always treated me very well and are honest.

ABQ Tire can do suspension installs?

mckey73 04-12-2012 01:12 AM

I can't see why they wouldn't, they do alignments and all general automotive repair. Guys that work at places like this love it when someone comes in with new mods to be installed. The day to day repair and alignments gets old, but it pays the bills. Recently I had them do the lower ball joints on my chevy pickup 'cuz I didn't have time to mess with it. I took them the parts and they charged me a very reasonable price.

Thanks! Not sure if Four Wheel Parts will install what you bring to them. I don't see why they wouldn't. Give Robert a call and ask him.

Darkfire, that came out great! We need to get together sometime for a little expedition. Some friends and I are camping at El Vado Lake for Memorial Day weekend. We are trying to secure our usual spot where the water has receded and exposed sand on the south east part of the lake I believe.

I already had my lift installed btw. But soon I will need to bolt on my rocker armor once I order them from Poison Spyder.

Sounds good. My office is actually there off Tramway/I-40 in the Canyon Plaza Shopping Center. I live on the Southwest part of ABQ. We'll grab some food and drink sometime...

I know theres a 4x4 shop on Southern in Rio Rancho. Big time 4x4 I think. Theres also Big O tire in RR that can do the lift and susp and most likely the exhaust. Tell Jesse (gen mang) Tim J sent you. He will give you a fair price. Been using Jesse for about 15 yrs for all my tire needs.

wat3rdog 06-08-2012 05:03 PM

Just went and got tires on the wifes ride last night at RR big O and found out that Jesse moved up the company ladder and no longer manages a store. :( have to find a new tire guy after 15+ years of awesome service.

So I called Big O in Rio Rancho, they quoted me 180.00 for install and alignment for a Teraflex leveling kit. Does that sound about right? Wish I could do it myself, but tools and space are an issue.
