Moving to Co.

So I'm moving from Hawaii to Co. Yep quite a change. I'll pick up my jeep in L.A. and drive there. Anything I should do before crossing the rockies? It's been suggested to re-fill my radiaror and wiper fluid appropriatly. Got any specs or advice for me? I'd apriciate it, I'm not used to "winterizing" or what have you.

It's been more like spring around here lately...maybe too late to worry about winterizing. Where are you settling

Colo-TJ 03-06-2012 07:21 PM

I'd just make sure your coolant is good. It has been nice lately but it can turn quick this time of year...73 today 35/snow tomorrow. Drive safe and hit us up when you settle in. What kinda Jeep are you running?

Somewhere between Boulder and Denver. I'm a 18whl driver and will be looking for work. I have family and a friend spread between the two places.
I have a '08 wrangler X. 2dr hardtop. 2.5inch procomp susp lift and 33X12 BFG M/T's on stock rims. Aft. mkt. Front bumper and rear w/ swingarm.
It was fun in Hi. But limited areas (plus its my daily driver). Really looking foreward to trails n such in Co.

Welcome to the high country :)

Oh, and thanks for making me feel welcome! See ya soon.

Welcome. I just moved to Denver about 5 weeks ago.

Colo-TJ 03-06-2012 07:45 PM

Sounds like a nice rig. We look forward to you getting here. I am about 20 miles east of Boulder. so when you get settled in give me a shout and we'll go find some dirt and rocks to play in. You are moving to a fine place let me tell ya. It is my paradise.
I'll keep my ear to the ground for work. You drive tankers or refers or what kind?

I remember the first year I was out here with my warm weather washer fluid... Iced my windshield over while driving. Scary!

Muddy Bob 03-06-2012 08:47 PM

Thats one of the things I'm talking about K. Wyman. I only have water in my washer resivoire now. I hope the mechanics in L.A. know a thing or two about that stuff. I actually leave for there tomorow. Yep still in Hi. but it's rainstorms this week so dont get jealous.
* COLO TJ, I've driven a few different things but mostly containers and trailers (20 to 45 Ft.). Lots of food stuffs (reefers). I did get my start driving cross country for C.R. England for 1 year, then SoCal for 4 more yrs. moving furniture.
Thanks all.

Washer fluid is like $2 and obviously can do yourself. Make sure you actually have antifreeze in your radiator. Not sure if they only use water if it never freezes there. If it's just water, drain it and replace with 50/50 antifreeze/water. Good set of wiper blades and if you want upgrade to better headlight bulbs (quick and easy). Only things I can think of considering you already have a lifted JK. You'll be good to go.

Once you get here check out trails in the area here http://www.traildamage.com/ and also check the Colorado forum on this site for runs. I went on my first last week and had a great time.
