Any stock bumper mods out there??

Has anyone done mods to the stock bumpers? If so, post up a pic- I'm hunting for inspiration that doesn't involve serious cash for a new one. All I have on mine is tow hooks and the removal of the milk jugs...so far...

Irongrave 03-06-2012 09:11 PM

buddies TJ took the ulgy jugs off and made 2 45* cuts after the light mounts

See, that's something I was curious about. I thought about cutting the ends at an angle and bolting/welding on d-ring stays. I just saw where someone painted and bolted on a truck bedrail and it looked pretty good.

This is a result of me being broke and having some spare time on my hands and access to a shop....

looks good so far, lets see it mounted.

Stock rear bumper with $30 worth of stuff from Tractor Supply welded on...Obviously I don't tow with the receiver welded in their, I just use it for a basket thingy that holds my cooler and fishing junk. I had to touch up the weld as you can see because I overloaded it

Mine was bent on one end, so I just cut short until I get around to making one.

I wish I could post a pic of mine it turned out really good but my computer is dying so it wont let me.I cut it down to a stubby bumper cut 45's on top and bottom and plated them in with 3 pieces on each side cleaned it up so u cant see the welds plated the inside of the bumper to make it thicker and put a stinger hoop on top with some little gussets I bought.I'll try to post a pic on the wifeys phone.

That would be me. It only cost me about $2 for the bolts. I still have to mount my fog lights though. Im really happy In the way that it came out.

I'm a cheapo. I angled mine, bought some tow hooks and bolted four rod holders to it.

Bloody brilliant!!
Im trying to combine your efforts with some design with angled ends- I think that would be a nice look

I have been thinking the same. Maybe starting the angle where the tube meets the bumper and angling back to the center.

That is clean!! It looks simple to remove too if you wanted to mount a winch. Ever tried that?

Exactly- I was thinking an angle up as well as one going back to mimic some of the looks that are out there in the aftermarket world.

Do you have a pic of the angle?

Not the best pics, but all I have on the phone. End caps removed, hoop added. Less than $40 invested...:)

Yeah you can put about 3inch extention plates to the lightbar, another guy did it and it turned out great. I am looking to do that in the near future.

Well I went ahead and did cut my bumper down. I really like the outcome.

Thanks, I bought mine used. If you pm Gus here on the forum he can tell you where it was purchased originally. I love the difference it made in the appearance of my girl, for such a small investment. :)
