Need More Power!

Hey all, I just bought a 98 Tj with 115k, has a pretty new Jasper motor in it, (less than 30k), Its my first jeep and i drive a good 80+ miles a day to & from work. Shes a 4cyl with a 5 speed. I love this Jeep but is there any way to bump up the hp? Its lifted 0n 33's, has working ac, ( a MUST in S Texas). It came with a folder with tons of receipts on maint., motor, lift, bumpers, instructions, etc. It was well documented but cant find anything on its gearing. Has a cold air intake but thats about all i can see. Im familiar with throttle body spacer & other stuff but i need to hear from you veteran Jeep owners. Thanks for your time in advance guys & gals

Id say that gearing is the first thing I would figure out. You can spend a lot of money on things that will only get you a couple hp. The real solution is proper gearing that will put you back in your power band.

4.88's... It's all you can do

I'd get some 4.88 gears for it. You likely have 4:10's now.

Ok so upgrading to 4:88's is key, what can I expect to pay for them? I'll install myself with a buddy. Done a few Stangs in my day

Dextreme, you rock brada! Appreciate the links, So roughly about $400 n change plus some hefty shipping. We have a 4wheel parts in Sa, I'll check with them also. Will i lose bottom end? Spend more time on the highway than on trails sadly.

You will be gaining bottom end. The stock 4:10 (2.5L/5speed) gear ratio was setup for the stock P205/75R15 tires (27"?)....so now that you have 33's, you are geared really tall. Going to 4:56 or 4:88 gears will lower your gearing getting that bottom end back.

Howdy neighbor...don't forget the master install kits for your budget. You'll need one for each axle. Also that would be a great time to add front and rear lockers, super 35 upgrade....so many options...so little time. I'm up in Kerrville btw.

That sounds great, would love to add lockers, but im super involved in gunsmithing right now and dont have the extra cash for lockers. I know i'll regret it when the time comes but I dont wheel that hard to warranty the purchase. Yet.....
