Will my gas tank off the YJ work on my TJ?

My TJ frame was lacking the fuel tank when I purchased it. I took my fuel tank off my YJ and put it on the TJ frame. Will this fuel tank work correctly? I mean will the fuel pump be correct for the fuel injection on the 6cyl? I have to figure out the wiring as well!! Another question, if all this will work, can I just use an in-line electric fuel pump as opposed to trying to figure out the wiring for the fuel pump and fuel gauge?? Any help would be much appreciated!

Probably not. The TJ has a much more sophisticated computer than the YJ and all the wires are probably different.

So do you think I could use an electric fuel pump?

What model YJ? If it's a late enough YJ that uses the 4.0L fuel injected engine it can probably be made to work without too much problem.

The YJ was a '90 model 2.5L. the TJ is an '05 6 cyl. So my question remains, can I use an electric in-line fuel pump?

I think there are 4 wires a pump pos and neg. The best way to figure out wich wires are wich would be to take the fuel pump/sender out of the tank and hook up a multi meter to different combinations of wire and move the float up and down and this should change the resistance when you find the correct wires for the sender.

I'm afraid wiring this thing is going to be a nightmare!!!
