Hey everyone wanted to get some feed back to see if my rear pinion angle looks Ok.... I know a lot of you by just looking at it can tell...it's been really hard for me to get the vibes out... I tend to feel the vibes when I'm going up hill on the highway not so much in city driving

I think it looks good. The pinion and drive shaft are in line and that's how mine has been for 8 years. I'm no expert, I've only done my own but from the diagrams I've seen and I think your right were your supposed to be.

I haven't driven it yet....I just wanted some feed back before taking it for a test drive..... I'll keep you posted

Ok I went to measure it with the angle finder....do I set it at the rear yoke and then the middle of the drive shaft ....? I hear it's suppose to be 1* to 2* off....?

Yep. The pinion angle should be 1* less than the driveshaft angle.

The drive shaft is between 16-17* and the rear yoke is exactly at 15* so I guess I'm alright....? I guess the true test will be driving it.

If you understand the physics of a universal joint and the difference between it and a constant velocity joint you will find your set up is good. You should get no vibration from what I see in your pictures.

I dunno for sure, neither picture is great at showing the rear axle's pinion angle, but that pinion angle looks way too low to me. That strengthening rib on the pumpkin housing is pointing down below the angle of the driveshaft, it should be pointing directly at the CV, directly in line with the driveshaft. It looks more than low enough to cause vibrations.

I say take it for a test drive. Start off slow then get up to 65ish. If you have a rhythmic pulsing at higher speed you still have work to do. I like to pull the front shaft just to isolate it.

If you use an angle finder I have found measuring off the U-joint on the pinion side to work the best. Use the biggest socket you can fit and hang it off that.

Took it for a test drive still getting vibes... Should I tilt it up more .... I thought when you get vibes it's because your angling up too much... Or can it work both ways of too high or too low ....

Alright dude.....

What's your pinion angle and what's the drive shaft angle? They need to be inline. To be safe, set the pinion angle 1 or 2* below the drive shaft angle to account for bushing deflection.

Read this--it'll explain WHY the shaft and pinion need to be inline (aka, u joint seeing 0 degrees).

If they're inline or the pinion is a hair low just using your eyes, that's good enough and won't result in vibes if everything else is correct.

Jerry the strengthening rib needs to be aligned with the center of the drive shaft or the top part of the drive shaft ....? Still trying to get the right angle the last pic I posted is where I was last at tonight

I think it may be...the angle of the pic isn't great so it may be causing some confusion. Ive looked at my ds from 15 different angles and it always looks worse at the angle this pic was taken from.

You need to take your pictures standing a little further towards the rear, so the photo isn't taken from the front looking toward the rear. Take the photos standing slightly more toward the rear of the jeep so the camera is looking straight at where the pinion shaft connects to the drivehsaft.

I don't get why you're so confused about how to do this......

What about "set the pinion inline with the drive shaft" doesn't make sense?

See the two circles on either side of the diff cover? Those are perpendicular to the pinion. You should be able to figure the rest out.

Visually it looks OK from my vantage point....but instead of asking us, why don't you determine for yourself if it's OK by answering the above two questions?
