Sunday 3/17

Anything going on yet?

BrianTG 03-12-2012 06:19 PM

Not for me this time... seems my jeep is still not very happy with me after this past weekend.

wanderlust 03-12-2012 06:22 PM

I have some things to try out. Need a nice easy run with a few stupid off shoots

BrianTG 03-12-2012 06:27 PM

I think they were talking about a run up around boulder. Something like left hand? was left something.

Justin04Lj 03-12-2012 07:06 PM

Yeah chad Ed and Denny were talking about doing left hand caņon next Sunday. Whats new on ur rig wander?

brendend 03-12-2012 08:03 PM

Justin04Lj 03-12-2012 08:05 PM

wanderlust 03-12-2012 08:45 PM

Justin04Lj 03-12-2012 08:48 PM

Sounds flexy.

I did it with Chad last sunday with my stock jk. I did get hung up on some rocks and he had to winch me off. If I remember right there were some more difficult off-shoots that you can do. I wouldnt make it with mine though.

wanderlust 03-12-2012 09:09 PM

I think I am as "slinky" as I can get with traditional coilsprings and shocks.. Getting close to coilovers

wanderlust 03-12-2012 09:13 PM

besides, Ed likes the way coil hoops look.. It really is all about making the oldguy happy

I'd tell you what would make the oldguy happy but I would be 86'd from the forum...

 Yeah, I would love to see coilovers sticking out through your fenders but I know it will never happen... spoil the lines

If you want to do something closer to home we could do a gulch or two, trails will be clean but I can't make any promises about the goat path getting in there.

Right now my draglink is jammed into my trackbar, can't figure out how I managed to do that...and no comments from the peanut gallery... My new one will be here tomorrow and since I've already blown my alignment I'm going to stuff some 3/4 inch spacers under my springs while I have it tore up. I'm dismantling the whole steering linkage to make sure I didn't screw anything else up.

I also need to shorten my front lower links but the bungs won't be here till thursday, if I'm lucky, so I think I'll wait on that if I'm going to be going out this weekend. Then I can realign the stupid thing again because I'll be moving my front axle back about half an inch.

So if you can find a calendar for the current year and can figure out what day you actually want to go let me know

wanderlust 03-12-2012 11:06 PM

Ed, lets see how cobbling your junk back together goes, then we can go see if either of our franken jeeps actually work. We may need someone else to give us rides out:rofl:

wanderlust 03-12-2012 11:07 PM

what ever day it actually is, I am looking for some early sunday stuff

Honestly not that much. Just more things I need to get sorted before I take the Jeep back out.

Trying to wash as much mud as I had off with wires in the open is tricky and annoying. So I need to get all the electrical stuff sorted out.

I may still make it but just not 100% sure atm.

My Jeep was so nasty it actually will take another round of cleaning to get the rocks/mud/dirt outta the inside and off parts of the outside/top/under.

:banghead:

BrianTG 03-12-2012 11:42 PM

oh, and I'm leaking power steering fluid pretty aggressively now.

wanderlust 03-13-2012 11:57 AM

I refer to all off road vehicles, including mine, as junk.

wanderlust 03-13-2012 11:57 AM

I suppose I could start using "smurf" the same way.

Oldguy 03-13-2012 08:55 PM

No, stick to junk. I was just giving you crap, I didn't take offense.

Oldguy 03-13-2012 11:31 PM

I hate doing front suspensions, I really do. In fact I really, really, really hate doing front suspensions. I had my entire steering linkage busted out to components today all over the garage floor. I could not find one thing wrong, every tre was fine. There is something wrong, I know there is, but can I find it? Nooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo. :nonono:

So I decided to shelve it and drop the axle to put in the spring spacers. Now I suppose if I used a spring compressor it would be a lot easier but do I do that? No, of course not, that would be too easy

So tomorrow I put the tires on and align it, sorta kinda. Then I can start on the rear suspension. Oh, boy, I can hardly wait... Actually I'd do five rears to one front and be happy.

I am very seriously considering taking up golf, or croquet, or bridge, or shuffle board, or ....

Justin04Lj 03-13-2012 11:39 PM

Ed I couldn't picture you doing any of those things. I would cry for your jeep. She would miss you so much.

YJ325i 03-13-2012 11:40 PM

The only think funner, would be to add RUST to the equation. It's cheaper to toss your golf clubs in the drink on a bad day, than run the J into a rock bed in the creak. just sayin.. I GOT IT!!!!! a new game, we hit rocks with golf clubs , then go chase em with the 4x4's. last Jeep standing wins
