2006 Wrangler X with the 6-Speed transmission

I've discovered that if you own a 2006 Wrangler X with the 6-Speed transmission you may be without a ride soon. The rod to the clutch master cylinder is made of plastic instead of metal. Mine snapped with only 2052 miles on the jeep. I went back to the shop where it has been for the last week and confirmed the part was made of plastic. There are no replacement parts available in the United States with several on back order. The dealership will not make a temporary repair due to liability concerns. Has any one else had a similar problem with this part?

Well the 05 auto was recalled last month for a faulty parking pawl. Join the Club.

that sucks.Anything screwy happenning with the 06 Sport Automatics?

My 05's got 17,000 miles on the clock now, with no problems. Hopefully they do a recall on this so I won't have problems with it.

i'm just wondering what earlier rods connecting the clutch pedal to the clucht master clynider are made of, hard plastic of metal. Does anyone know?

Metal...and I think I'd have to retro fit one on the new Wrangler.

Thanks for the reply. I was looking at a photo for a clutch master clynider for the 2005 Wrangler and it is totally different from the one in my jeep. For some reason the master clynider going though the firewall on my jeep is not attached to the firewall. It is left loose on purpose and it sticks out about 2". This was confirm by another 2006 Jeep owner with the same proplem. This may be because of a mis-alignment problem on the new jeep wrangler. If any one can supply any more information I will be grateful.

Thanks

You would think that they could fabricate that piece out of steel, as dos0711 stated. Any machine shops in your area?

I called DC today and was told a new one was on the way. It is suppose to be upgraded from the one that broke in my jeep. Its coming straight from the manufacture (don't know if they meant jeep or the cylinder manufacture). May still take awhile because they could not give me a date of delivery. I'll guess I'll wait and see.
