Why no tan top for JK?

I think it would go great with a tan or green jeep with a saddle interior. Is there an aftermarket top in this color anywhere?

vgerardi 03-15-2012 09:50 AM

I was bummed that they don't offer that anymore either. I think it would look good on my white Jeep with saddle interior. There are a couple of aftermarket soft tops that you can get in khaki. I think Pavement Ends has one. Too bad the Bestop Trektop NX doesn't come in anything but black. That is the soft top that I want.

Dogface 03-15-2012 06:35 PM

Bestop Trextop does come in a dark khaki...

because tan is ugly.

GravelRoad 03-15-2012 08:17 PM

I would like one of the Bestop trail covers in khaki. The black and gray just doesn't look as good with the saddle interior.

Ballandchain 03-15-2012 08:38 PM

My favorite Jeeps of past had Khaki tops/tan interior....

found one on another forum, dont know who makes it but would like to get one

I have the Natural green and with all the back it just blends together.
I would like some contrast but I hate chrome accessories. Green and tan
use to be an option. I would like to get my hard top painted tan. Dune maybe?

Bestop makes the BST-54717-36 its a Khaki soft top. It looks good on the reds and the dark greens

hair2831 09-28-2013 10:08 AM

That looks hideous on that 4 door. Ugh. It might look ok if it was a much darker green.

That's what Plasti-Dip is for :thumb:

Khaki top was a limited production run with Khaki interior on Sahara's in 07 and 08. The Khaki is a bit darker then the tan. Not sure it was even offered in 09. Not very popular so probably a reason why afterMarket isn't offering too much. I know in my area out of hundreds of JK there are very few Khaki's and my son and I own 2 of them.
A couple older photos hard and soft top.

ORH will do a custom job. Costs about 150$ more. best soft top out there, in my opinion

Jugh! Probably is the only colour upon which khaki would look this awfull!

panthermark 09-28-2013 12:24 PM

I have no clue as to why Jeep pulled the tan tops for the JK's'....but it could because what Jeep called "tan" wasn't really "tan"....it was more of a brownish-greyish-green color.

Jeep need to bring back "Spice"...that was a wonderful color. My original goal was a Winter Chill JKU with saddle leather and a tan (spice) top.

What front bumper is that? Looks like a police style mounted on the stock?

+1 Some may like it but, from a sales standpoint, its completely understandable why jeep scrapped it.

HK_Runner 01-30-2014 02:09 PM

They looked good on dark green Jeeps. That is about it.

Finally available. Rough Country Spice tan available on TJ - JKU

jaykalafatis 02-02-2016 09:50 AM

how has the rough country soft top help up? I just bought a 2012 Black JKU Sahara that came with a black soft top. Im considering going with a spice soft top for some contrast.

Does the Rough Country top mount right on the factory soft top frame?

DMS3XJ 02-06-2016 09:28 PM

Bump anyone have a picture of this one a white 2dr?

That is an Aries grille guard ...

RemoJK 02-07-2016 08:17 PM

I've been looking for a tan/khaki too for a long time (well not too hard) but I want one so I can paint the wheels and fenders the same color. I think green with khaki accents would look good. Tired of the "black"

68RR 02-07-2016 11:37 PM

I bought a Rough Country top over black friday weekend. Installed it about 6 weeks ago and I really like it so far. Being winter though, I haven't really "used" it yet.

johnnyswell 11-21-2016 09:46 PM

Hate to post on such an old thread but has anyone seen one of these on a dark Natural Green JK or JKU? Thinking about getting one.

KG4NEL 11-21-2016 10:10 PM

I have a tan...hard top :-p

JZee 12-01-2016 10:06 PM

The tan top has really grown on me, and I wish Jeep would offer a factory one again. That being said, I just ordered the Rough Country Spice top for my JKUS, and it was $99! Honestly, for that price, I might pick up a second one just for funzies.

Here is an 08 Khaki top on my 2012.
Looks more gray in person.

JZee 12-01-2016 11:26 PM

Did you choose to go with the Khaki specifically, or was it just a replacement top? I've done a little reading about them, don't think I've seen one in person, but have heard they are more on the gray/green side.
