Rotation noise on my 2005 Rubicon

I have a 2005 Rubicon that has 65000 miles on it. I have a rotational noise coming from it that sounds like the speedometer cable. But as you know there is no cable... The noise increases tempo as speed increases and does the opposite when I slow... It does it in neutral or in any gear both engine running or off and coasting. I can NOT find it to save my life. I hope that I did a fair job of describing the noise... Please help.:banghead:

Have you taken out your front drive shaft to see if it stops? Mine was doing the same thing with 40,000 miles. Took out the shaft & it quit.

No I havent tired removing my front drive shaft.... I dont understand what this would do. It makes the noise in 2 wheel drive... sorry if that is a totally newby statement....
I dont think its any of the grease fittings as they were all just greased when I had the oil changes last week. The noise started about 3 months ago while hunting elk in Arizona and has gotten louder since then. I dont think its breaks either. It only makes the noise when its moving... not rpm related....

The front drive shaft turns when in two wheel drive too. If the shaft is original & not been rebuilt it doesn't have any grease fittings.

Mine made a rotational noise like that and it was the front output bearing in the transfer case.

My 2006 Rubi makes a similar sound in 1st and 2nd. Thought it was speedo cable but I guess it doesnt have one of those. I've only got 29,000 miles (bought used) could front transfer case bearing go out so soon? It does not make noise when not moving.

Mine did the same thing I had a bad u joint. It could also be the cv joint in the front drive shaft

Could be tires.

Well I broke down today and took it to the dealer.... I got stuck with the extended warranty when I bought it so I thought why not use that. It turns out that they THINK its the pinion bearing. We will see on Monday. Really hoping for the warranty to pull through. But I dont have that kind of luck.

Thanks for all the input.... it really helped!
