Good way to hydrolock JK8

Good to see dealerships fording water properly with new inventory.

Good grief.

I will say, that is a good looking rig. I'm normally not too fond of the JK8s or the Sidebiters, but that thing is pretty damn sweet.

InvertChaos 03-17-2012 01:45 PM

Not exactly Treading Lightly eh?

Lithium Lotus 03-17-2012 02:00 PM

I sure hope they are selling it used. Did you also notice the guy that stepped out was smoking? Great advertising.

I'm pretty sure that Chrysler was targeting close to 400 for the year and dealer demand has already been well over 500. My numbers may be a little off but I think I read that somewhere.

wrangler0 03-17-2012 05:43 PM

How high of a lift is on there?
What kind/size tires?

Pretty bad ass lookin jeep
Very disrespectful drivin'...

tjt94 03-17-2012 06:33 PM

Wow! Tough going! Looks like the kind of stuff I used to do with my 78 Monza stationwagon (Vega) growing up in Montana. Totally no need for 4X4 or a vehicle that costs $50K.

Thinking the same. They will probably close a trail in Utah in that rivers honor.

NFRs2000NYC 03-17-2012 06:44 PM

Just in case anyone cares, the "river" is actually nothing more than a storm drain canal, and I am pretty sure that it runs through the property of the dealership.

pasteris71 03-17-2012 07:39 PM

Would live to see the ad on this one. New Jeep, smoke free. Then you see this video with the salesman stepping out with a cigarette in mouth. So not only is it used but it's been smoked in. I smell huge discount!

Hammer_JKUR 03-17-2012 09:21 PM

Uhhhhh, people, how come no one noticed that the thing is entirely branded to the dealership? It has the website on the windshield, hood, and the bed. This is an advertising dealer vehicle, not a jeep for sale. Also, while he was going too fast, there was never really any risk, the intake is in front of the wheel, and has a "seal" to the top of the hood. Very good design by Jeep.

Guess you could say it passed the test. :whistling:

If he was going faster or deeper maybe, but it didn't get that bad right there.
Sure they were knuckleheads about how they drove it, but as stated this is a promotional vehicle on the dealer's lot and they're showing it off for the camera.

PA ARCTIC 03-18-2012 05:49 AM

local dealer just finished up a black one. 50k i believe.

salmonshark 03-18-2012 03:36 PM

Just curious, where was the danger of hydrolocking? It didn't look like it ever really got that deep. Driving too fast?

I wouldn't want to buy from them it that were my vehicle, the smoking bothers me more than the wheeling.

The last JP mag, Chrysler estimated 2-300, but sold 400. IMO those #'s seema bit low.

Doesn't matter if it's on their property, they don't own it. Nobody "owns" any water resource regardless if it's on their property. All of those tributaries, creeks, rivers and whatever you're calling a "storm drain canal" are owned by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers. But, that's fine. Let them destroy it. My wife is a Water Resources Engineer, so she'd likely be called in to fix it...YAY for job security! More money for mods!

speeddrive1 03-21-2012 10:46 AM

If that were in Minnesota and they got caught doing that the dnr would probably own that jeep and the dealership who put that jeep together.

wrangler0 03-21-2012 12:35 PM

Anyone have an idea how high that lift is?

3"?

tabber02 03-21-2012 01:28 PM

probably the AEV 3.5" to match all the other AEV stuff...

Cyalume 03-21-2012 01:42 PM

It's the Passaic River, it's not a storm drain, click the video for the information.

I'm sure this violates some rivers and stream act. :nonono:
