Cleared a new path

Spent time in our woods today clearing out space for the Jeep and a nice path to get through to one of the smaller clearings.

Holy crap! How big is your property?

I only forgot one thing...a way out. And I'm not good at backing up or getting through tight spots.

163 acres, mostly wooded but about 20 open acres.

x2. I'd even pay an entry fee if there was place to put a tent and start a bon fire and make s'mores for the night. :D

klkb 03-18-2012 09:15 PM

I'd have a Jeep party if I could convince my husband that the place wouldn't get torn up! I asked him for the chain saw so I could cut a few more things out of my way, and he looked at me like I had a meth lab in my skull.

Im in PA, Id come down and help clear out for a chance to just ride in the woods.

daggo66 03-18-2012 09:18 PM

We'd promise to fix anything we break.:D

How often does he get out to those 20? It could all be grown back and filled in before he ever notices. If he wants to see what we did, just take him to a different 20 acres. He'll never know.

southpaw75 03-18-2012 09:29 PM

And we won't break anything...on purpose :whistling:

kbwwolf 03-18-2012 09:31 PM

Maybe a fender flare or two. :)

southpaw75 03-18-2012 09:32 PM

The 20 has the barn on it, and he and my 14-y-o mow it every weekend from April-October. He notices animal tracks on it. He actually knows just about every inch of the place from walking around it for the past ten years! He's just now getting used to me driving through the trails, and I think he's secretly jealous that my Jeep goes where his hummer can't!

Hummer? As long as it's a H1.

kbwwolf 03-18-2012 09:58 PM

Oh, he's jealous all right. Secretly hoping you'll rip your tranny out on a stump. :)

daggo66 03-18-2012 10:00 PM

Do your boys have dirt bikes? Quads?

klkb 03-18-2012 10:02 PM

It's an H1. His 2nd son is the one with the mall crawler that I keep blocking in its parking space at work, if I'm not parked sideways on the curb in the spot. :)

daggo66 03-18-2012 10:04 PM

Since it's a H1, we'll let you stick around. :flowers:

Nothing better than da of taking the Jeep and a chainsaw through the woods for some fresh air. :thumb:

Oh, jeez. I got lost in the woods on my ATV a few years ago - because when you get off the path and turn around it all looks the same - and all I had to get back to the barn was a walkie-talkie, the setting sun as a compass and the sound of his shotgun as a point of reference. I went through thickets and streams, all kinds of crap, and ended up stuck. I tried using the winch to get out, and it-just-would-not-get-unstuck!! I was close enough to the barn that he could find me, and he was pissed to find out that I was using the winch to get myself out of a stump caught up under the axle. I honestly couldn't figure out why I was stuck... It was a few weeks before we got the ATV back from the shop.
