Some people!!

Well where to begin? Had my jeep parked on the street and some dbag broke open my center consul and stole my ray bans and my gps!! The stuff can be replaced but the nerve of people, I feel violated.

So, I ordered a new tuffy security under seat box, and I am going to have an alarm put in Friday. I am looking for something that will warn when getting close and will freak out if something touches it. Dose anybody have any suggestions?

Thanks in advance for any help, Matthew

I hate people sometimes. Sorry to hear that. I am lucky and finally bought a house with a garage a few years ago.

Unfortunately because of dirtbags like the one that messed with your Jeep, mine stays in the garage most the time.

It gets to come out now and then for wheeling, camping, or if I go somewhere I can baby sit it.

my dad has a pretty good alarm on his avalanche ill ask him tomarrow what one he has and ill let ya know

In this day and age alarms mean nothing and just annoy the owner and neighborhood. Best bet is to not keep anything of value in the jeep and if you do keep it secure in a lock box like a tuffy. I had a tuffy center in my old TJ and I had more than enough room in it for the important stuff. I now have the under seat and rear trunk Tuffy in the LJ and as long as I keep things locked in there I dont hesitate parking my jeep anywhere with the top n doors off

I have a $150 stereo which is definitely replaceable and I leave the console and glove box unlocked. I have a safe under the seat that occasionally holds my pistol when I go to a place that doesn't allow me to carry it in (which is rarely). So far I've been ok with leaving the top and doors off in the parking lot. Hopefully things continue as they are and of folks want to rummage through my stuff, at least they won't find anything but paperwork and a cell phone charger. :)

Dude, someone stole a drill bit and stereo cable that I use to connect my phone via aux port out of my Jeep sat night...

They will steal the stupidest stuff...

CiDZillA 03-19-2012 01:14 PM

That's weak. Sorry to hear you got broken into.

I had my old TJ broken into during college and they took a huge book of CDs I had at the time. It was a bummer.

I plan to get one of the under seat lock boxes soon.

I caught someone 3oclock in the afternoon breaking into my jeep on New years day in south Philadelphia! His excuse was it was like that and he was making sure that noone took anything... Broke my cb antenna, center console, ripped out my stereo amp and sub, trashed the whole I.side! As soon as I seen that, I took the spud wrench sitting in my trunk and whacked him with it... The cops were cool, the stated I was attacked and defended myself... Nobodies come near my jeep since :)

Charcoal2010 03-19-2012 01:23 PM

The best alarm system is a 12 gauge shot gun. Quaranteed! :)

Have a lot of crime in Scottsbluff, Nebraska? Why on earth do you need to carry a pistol with you at all times?

ask for a field disturbance sensor, for dei product its called a 508d, its the best in the business. I used to be an installer, if you can swing it, go with 2 way paging remote and 508d, you can have your doors off and it'll detect movement inside the vehicle without touching anything. It has dual zones, interior for full trigger and exterior for warn away. dialed in correctly, someone can park next to you and it will never alert, once someone has broken that invisible perimeter, its warning or going off. great for Jeeps and nice wheels. If you have any questions pm me and i'll be happy to assist

Sorry for your loss. It's a pretty $#!++y feeling having someone violate your property like that. I've had my Jeep broken into three times. Every time I've had no more than a pack of gum in the Jeep, which was taken on the second time. Learned when I first got the Jeep to leave nothing of value in it. Learned after the first break in (where they slashed my windows to unlock the door) to leave it unlocked too. Sadly alarms don't deter thieves so much anymore.

Casotakar1229 03-19-2012 05:52 PM

install 2 of these when you get that new alarm system installed....

Thanks everyone for your replys. I have a garage at my house but I work in a diff state so I have 2 residents the second is an apartment in DT Asheville Nc witch is not the best place to park an uncovered jeep. The alarm is just so I can hear if someone gets into my vehicle at the apartment. I did also buy the tuffy under seat storage.

LilYeller 03-19-2012 09:13 PM

Here is the setup that I have.

Viper 5901 2way paging alarm
Dei 508d Radar (proximity) sensor
Dei 520T Backup battery (alarm sounds if someone cuts your battery cable) also doubles as a low battery warning, dont ask how I know this lmao.

I also added another siren inside the cab near the alarm itself so if someone thinks they are smart they will get a face full of siren, and those things are loud.

Noone gets close to my Jeep without me knowing about it.

Getting worse by the day, actually. I carry everyday because it's my right to do so. A gun is a lot easier to carry than a cop.
As you can see by other replies here, I'm far from being the only one who does it. If you want to trust your safety and your family's safety to law enforcement then good on ya. I'll make sure that if (when) they're not available, me and mine are taken care of.

Sorry to the OP, didn't mean to hijack.

SteelBlue44 03-19-2012 09:41 PM

Wow! After reading this thread, i just ordered myself a Tuffy underseat storage lock box.

Right on.. You don't have to paranoid to carry a gun. Just prepared. The 1 time you don't carry it is the 1 time you will need it.. There were 3 robberies last week in my small town. Furring on of them the mayor was robbed. You never know who is going to do what or when. All you can do is be ready.

Well said

Pa passed a "castle domain" law. It's now legal to use deadly force to protect your person, house, property, and vehicle.. However it's illegal to use excessive force. So basically if they don't threaten you you can't just shoot them..

MrHix 03-20-2012 08:50 AM

Texas did away with our castle doctrine, however, its 100% legal to carry a loaded gun in your vehicle as long as you can legally own a firearm. Weve always been able to protect our home, property and ourselves and now our neighbors property as well. Gotta love Texas, only state flag allowed to fly the same level as the Us flag.

Pa is also open carry, if you are saying you can carry loaded (openly displayed) in your car..

MrHix 03-20-2012 12:18 PM

nah, it has to be put away, can not be in plain sight. And i apologize also to the OP, sorry brother. you can spend a $1000 on a top of the line security system, but if they want it, they'll get it.
