End caps on stock bumpers

Hello all,

I'm wondering for those of you who put on the flat end caps on your stock TJ bumpers after the milk jugs come off, what kind of hardware do you fasten yours with?

JDsDream 03-19-2012 04:03 PM

I re-used the hardware that I took off when I removed the milk jugs.

Me too... ;)

You will need two clips from OEM milkjugs. Clips will slip on your flats and lineup with your bumper holes.

Went to ACE Hardware and got stainless steel bolts and nuts. I spray painted the heads black to match bumper. No rust possible.

Plastic push pins from AutoZone... P/N FR9352 - 3/8" hole size with 7/8" head dia.

Where'd the caps come from? Was thinking about doing this and thought I remembered someone saying the caps were only like $7 or something..

I used a couple of sets of plastic license plate fasteners(black plastic nut and bolt) mine didn't have any on it at all and I wanted the fasteners that are talked about above but could not find them.. Now that I have the #s I will probably grab those next time I'm there.. Thanks for the info :)

Any pictures with the end caps installed? I just don't see what all the excitement is about.

Mine had been changed before I bought the Jeep, but they used the plastic push pins... we used to call them Christmas tree fasteners at Autozone.

Very easy, just line the holes up and push them in. Leaves a nice clean look too as the head is flat and black.

Thanks for the auto zone parts guys. I knew there had to be a better way. I didn't really want to use the original hardware because it is seriously rusted and I had a major problem getting them off in the first place: ie. drilling out and hacksaws...

I'm going to get those push pins and paint my bumper before I install the caps.

There's a few in this thread:

They give the bumper a more finished look once the milk jugs are off.

I got them on Ebay for something like $25 for the set with shipping.

Hello, Did I see that you painted your tailpipe, muffler. If so, what paint did you use? and are you happy with the results? Obviously, it's heat resistant. Thanks.

The previous owner spray the under side of the fenders and a lot of the frame with some sort of rubberized bed liner like stuff. He got the tail pipe while he was at it. lol
I like it. Gives everything a nice black finish.
