Rear axle leak..help needed!

Have a 95 wrangler 2.5litre auto trans, was checking rear brakes and passenger side brakes are coated in fluid, also so some spray on my inner rim, how do you disassemble to get to the seals in the axle... (I'am assuming thats what it is) Really appreciate any help and guidance on this...do's the pumpkin come apart...to get the right side hub to come off????? all info is greatly appreciated.
Thanks

Had the same happen at the rear driver side wheel. The axle seal on that side was leaking.
Autozone had a nice manual on how to change said axle seal:

| Repair Guides | Rear Axle | Axle Shaft, Bearing And Seal | AutoZone.com

And yes, you have to drain the fluids from the differential and open up the pumpkin to remove the c-clip, assuming you have stock D35, to remove the axle shafts and get to the seal. Hope this helps.

Figure I will replace the bearing also when I get it apart, is the bearing pressed on the axle or is it in the housing itself......I could use some direction here also as how to go about replacing the bearing....Thanks Again for any help!

It sounds more like a wheel cylinder. Is your master cuylinder full of fluid?

On a C-clip D35 the bearing is pressed in the housing, you will need a puller to get the old one out and then with the right mandrel you can tap the new one in. Look your axle over very good at the place where the bearing rides on it, if it has any wear it needs to be changed out, the bearing rides right on the shaft, no inter race in the bearing, they really suck! if shaft is worn that can make the seal leak, good luck. Oh and someone will come along and tell you to change to a Ford 8.8!

While you got the diff cover off, spend the money on some Royal Purple Gear oil. I swaped all the fluids in mine and gained 2mpg. Its expensive but worth it.
