What Parts Do I Need?

I'm slowly getting my jeep (97 Sport - 5-spd) in (safe) driving condition (PO didn't do much 161k - Minnesota.) Today's goal - find the needed parts to get the parking brake working. At some point the PO cut both rear parking brake cables at the location where the meet above the axle. I can find the two cables at multiple locations. But, there is a 5" gap from the cut ends to the cable that comes from the handle. There must be some sort of splitter, equalizer, tensioner things missing. I can't find any illustrations or any parts listed at the usual auto parts sites. :banghead: Can anyone help?

I don't have a picture because mine is lying somewhere on the road in Langhorne, PA but there's an adapter that holds the one single side in and then holds the two cables together on the other side. It's just a metal bracket and stays where it is with tension.' I believe it's also got a spring or something so you can put tension on the brake cable. I'll try and get a picture, but if you locate this bracket definitely let me know. It may be something you're only going to find at a junk yard.

There's one part, but I don't know where the bracket goes to put the tension on your cables.

There's another thread about the tension and a fix, but it's for a YJ. Same principle though.

Got it!

97 - 06 Jeep Wrangler TJ Parking Brake Adjuster Linkage Emergency Tensioner | eBay

That's the part you need for the tension. The other bracket just holds everything in place. I would contact this seller because it looks like the item hasn't sold and he hasn't put it back up for auction.

Edit

Don't know if you need help, but I'll elaborate more because I have nothing to do today. That first bracket is bolted to the top of your Jeep. That's probably already there. The brake cables get routed through that. That the tensioner part is actually where you put the ends into and then tighten for some tension. Like below (oh my god I've done everything for you)

Thank You! I had found the bracket on ebay (your right - that is still on mine)............but, I didn't think about checking completed listings (great idea!) When I get the part - the picture will really help the assembly - Once again - Thank you!
