Anyone ever lost a D-ring?

Kind of stupid/pointless but still makes me kind of mad. A couple of weeks ago I noticed on my front bumper that one of my d-rings was gone and the other was really loose. I hadn't gone wheeling within a week or two before it so it was mostly just street driving. I'm curious to see if this has happened to anyone else and if I just need to get different shackles. For now I just keep tightening the one I have left

No, I never have, but then again I don't leave them out hanging in the elements, either. They go in a bag along with other recovery gear.

EDIT: if you're intent on keeping them on the outside of the vehicle, you could zip-tie the hole (assuming there is one) in the pin back to the body of the shackle

I've got an old screwdriver in my Jeep tool kit that I used to torque em down after finding one of mine loose a couple months ago. Haven't had em come loose since, though I check em when I fill up w/gas now.

Yep, I tighten mine up good with an adjustable wrench

I wouldn't be as pissed to lose one on the highway as the person behind you...

I forgot to remove them after a ride once. My fiance was behind me in his Jeep when 1 fell off.

I have the type that go on with a bolt & nut and secured with a cotter pin. never had a problem. never seem to have a reason to take them off so it works quite well for me. I keep a couple of the threaded pin type in my recovery bag as well just in case there is ever a need.

X2

I'm just gonna torque mine down for now, if it falls off though it'll be an excuse to buy some new recovery gear :whistling:

I never lost a D ring, but I once lost a wedding ring. Best day of my life! :whistling:

One time I had one taken in a parking lot but now I tighten mine up good with a thick screwdriver and they never walked a way again.

You could also use some locktight as well. You can find it almost anywhere.
