Tj flares on a yj
MY buddy was wondering if you could fit a set of tj flares on a yj. And is there anything we may not know about fitment

Very popular mod. Have to drill a few new holes, but pretty straight forward. Allows you to trim a bit of fender for @ an extra inch or so of tire clearance.

We had a YJ (94) rebuilt and modified a couple years ago-and I had Xenon flares for TJ mounted on the YJ with no problem. New holes needed of course but use stainless steel bolts and you'll never have a problem taking them off. Found out the hard way-son just removed the Xenons on my rubicon we had installed 5 years ago-and only bolts he didn't have to cut off were the stainless steel ones. Flat fenders he's building for me now will have all stainless steel bolts...

Not meaning to hijack your thread, but I am planning on doing this myself.
I need new tires and want to run 33x12.5 tires. Right now I have 31x10.5
I do have a 2 1/2 lift and no tire clearance problems with the 31's right now.
Question is, after installing and trimming the wheel well out can I go ahead and
run the 33's until I get my bigger lift installed?

You shouldn't have any problems-I ran 31x10.5x15 with nothing more than 2" budget boost for a couple years. Then I put in a 4" lift and went to the 33x12.5x15 and have had no problems. As long as you have bumpstops and don't really 'stuff' a tire you shouldn't be worried. When my flat fenders are installed my son is trimming back the edge of the tub so I can go up to 35" when my 33's go bare.
