Anyone order a ORH top lately

Like sometime within the past month or so? How long did it take to get it? Im thinking about buying one as I almost have the funds saved up, but I fear it is too late in the season already to place my order in time to get it before September they way Tim works.

I ordered mine in Nov and got it in Feb...but deliberately ordered during his off season so I'd have it for summer. I've heard of peeps getting theirs after 2-3 months in spring/summer. Others not for much longer.

But if you don't order it, you'll never get it.

Ordered a Cargo Top 2/9/2012 talked to Tim this past Monday and at first he didnt seem to have the order. It sounded like he was working on fastback tops and was surprised that a Cargo order had not gone out. He looked around and did find my order but didn't really say how long so I will call him in another month. I expected 2-3 months so i'm ok with it.

As stated above, count on it being 2-3 months from time of order.

how much did he charge you guys?? i just talked to him and its 975 now, i read a few months ago it was 750

Tacman 03-23-2012 09:41 PM

I paid $750, however Tim warned he was raising his prices as he simply could not sustain operations at the amount he was charging. After visiting his shop (garage - he operates his business out of his home) I quickly understood why. The only items he does not fabricate are the fasteners. He measures, cuts and sews all the material and manufactures the support rods, etc from scratch all on his own. The tops truly are custom made and he test fits the tops before packing and shipping them in boxes that he also assembles ! If he would hire help and increase production he could probably afford to lower the price, but he is very "hands on" and has told me he simply cannot rely on others to pay the same attention to detail that he does.

Ordered Mine 2/7/2012 $975 + shipping $1150 total for the Cargo. Called this week for update no specific deleivery date but he advised "it won't be long". We shall see :)
He did say that he only has about 20 outstanding orders and he was working on a batch of cargo tops this week

Mine took 3 months, ordered in the dead of winter (I think he had 4-5 orders @ that point). You get yours by summer, Tim's doing pretty good. :thumb:

Yeah not to worried about it just call every couple of weeks for a status.

Kinda what I did. One day I called and couldn't get Tim off the phone...man, dude pretty much told me his life story. But his tops are awesome.

Only reason I could even imagine going back to the OE softy was if some moron cuts one of my ORH windows or something. :thumb:

Placed my order a couple of weeks ago...he told around 1-2 months.

just an heads up for anyone whos wanting a different color other than black, as long as you can find the material for him he'll do the fast back top in any color. im trying like crazy to find a tan material to match my jeep but so far no luck in getting the correct size. (65" wide X 10' long) still looking though

j0nx 04-06-2012 07:54 AM

Tan tops are a PITA to keep clean. They may look good and sound good but in practice they won't stay that way for long. I'd love to have one of these tops too but the 20% price increase is too steep for me. I'll probably end up just grabbing a slightly used OEM softie from CL for $600 instead.

Man, you guys are patient. I've heard horror stories about this company. Made my decision for the TrekTop much easier.

R4D4R 04-06-2012 03:50 PM

Order placed! Tim said I should see it in about 6 weeks.

Ape you are correct not for everybody but for those with patients I have yet to read a bad review of the top once received. I look forward to getting mine soon but can understand why some go the TrekTop route for sure :thumb:

Same here. I'd rater wait it out and get the best for a few bucks more than deal with a potentially poorly assembled piece of junk
