Soft top: initial install...??? HELP

I may well have screwed up...if so, my bad. I bought a NIB soft top from a guy that never installed it and has hard top only. In looking at the owner's manual I see a bunch of things I know I don't have and dunno if I need. I bought mine (2 door) with HT only last Oct.

Other than the bow frame and top with windows are there other parts I need ? I have full steel doors so is the door surround needed ? I think the tailgate bar is part of the rear window ?. What about attaching the bow to the jeep body..are holes needed to be drilled and other parts to bolt on to receive the soft top frame ? I find also that there are NO windows so he must have them in another place...Don't they come packed separately ?

I may well be out some money...  Hope seller can make me whole...

Not sure what you paid for it, but door surrounds and windows seem to be the most expensive parts. Easly looking at $500 to replace them. And most used tops sell for $400-700 that i have found. I ran into this few weeks ago, and after adding everything up (windows, door surrounds, brackets, and bolts)that i needed i passed on buying it. If you just have the top and header i would value it at only couple hundered if its in really nice shape. I think i'm gonna give up on buying used tops. Bestop nx for me from here on out.

BTW what year is the top? this matters since the door surrounds and windows are differant sizes on 2010 and newer i think.

So you need a header for the windshield frame too ? Yikes, I really F'd up. He's only about 200 miles away if I can find him...

Man, that sucks. I wouldn't even have the patience to try to replace a soft top.
Good luck. Hope it works out.

We shall see. I think I've decided to just go topless in the summer and put my HT back on in the Fall. We seldom get rain in the summer. Yep....too embarrassed to tell you the price. I guess I'm getting gullible in my old age...

This is an 07 but it's a JK and my dlr and others said the fit. Finding windows will be impossible. Do you know if an aftermarket header will work ? No matter...I just want my $$ back.

Order a bestop top with frame and bows/bars and be done with it, they are the best :)
