need mirrors for when my doors are off

I'm a first time Wrangler owner, and I absolutely love it. I find myself taking the doors off every chance I get, but I really hate not having side mirrors. I don't want to go through the whole mirror relocation thing, and I've heard there are some quick install mirrors that just screw right into the hinges. Where can I get them and what are the best ones to get?

daggo66 03-26-2012 05:53 PM

Harley mirrors work. Don't bother checking, I highly doubt there are any other threads regarding mirrors. :whistling:

Not only that, but it's illegal!

 Guess I walked into that one. Nice to see a fellow Samurai of Sarcasm ply his trade.

Hello, I just bought these from Quadratec. Rugged Ridge 11025.10 - Rugged Ridge Quick Release Mirror Kit for 97-12 Jeep® Wrangler TJ, JK, TJ Unlimited & Wrangler Unlimited JK - Quadratec

I can't wait until they come in. I took the doors off for the first time on Saturday and drove around the parking lot only because I lacked mirrors.

The laws vary from state to state. Side mirrors are not required here.

Die-Tech Off-road Mirror Brackets

I use these, they use your original mirrors, and keep the JEEP look with your doors off.

That's what I use. Unobtrusive, don't rattle, cheap.

Due to laws, they don't work for everyone, but I'm glad I can use them.

Yes there is.
I used a Convex mirror, a bike hook and straitened it and a rubber door stop. Total cost about $10.
Works like a champ and doesn't move in the wind.

It's buried in the "What I did for my jeep" thread.

I keep a set of Harley long stem mirrors under the seat. They are a *perfect* install for Wrangler door hinges with their hardware, at $35 (find anything Harley for $35 - can't be done) a great buy and locally to boot, just wish they weren't so "objects are closer than the appear".

I used the rugged ridge mirror brackets to move the mirrors Rugged Ridge 11025.04 - Rugged Ridge Mirror Relocation Bracket in Black for 07-12 Jeep® Wrangler & Wrangler Unlimited JK - Quadratec.

On the passenger side mirror I added a small, round, convex adjustable blind spot mirror in the upper right corner. I got two for under $5 at an auto parts store. Now I can use that mirror when the upper halfs are on (and when they're off too).

It should be noted that I sit with the seat all the way back and leaned back. So I can see that blind spot mirror completely.

X2. I have the same brackets for my 08'. I love them. The doors have been off since I put them on.

I like the idea of the blind spot mirror too. I will have to look into this:thumb:

I used these: CIPA 44800/01 - Dual Mirror Set in Black for 97-06 Jeep® Wrangler TJ & Unlimited with Soft Doors - Quadratec

They are made for TJs but all you have to do is bend the little brackets a little with some pliers and they work PERFECTLY! Only $26.99 for two mirrors. It's about $35 when including shipping.

These work very well with the doors off OR on. I took off my stock mirrors from the door and just put these on the window brackets.

I don't have any close up pics but can post them later if desired.

This is what I used and mounted it on the side of the windsheid frame, under the plastic, by the bluetooth speaker. Worked great! $12.99 from O'Reillys, Universal outside mirror. Took about 5 minutes to install. Very sturdy.

I bought these from quadratec, I think they were around $50. No Vibration very easy install!

hardymsu69 08-05-2012 09:43 PM

I also used the rugged mirror replacement but lost the bolt that holds mirror today, where can i find a 1.5 bolt?

sd72667 08-06-2012 02:27 PM

Does anyone have "magnetic" mirrors? Wondering if they would be illegal. I have some small magnets that are very strong. Attached to a small lightweight mirror and it becomes boltless. Just a thought.
