Is there ANY chance of YJ full hard doors working on TJ?

debruins 01-19-2008 01:38 PM

yeah, ivebeenw ondering that ever since in JP magazine they put TJ doors on a YJ, i think that to fit them they ahd to pund some of it a little, but thats not that bad,

That is my problem, I was offered (FREE) some YJ doors, but not sure if they will fit on my TJ. I guess I could take them to sell if they don't fit and then get the right doors.

mrbigjeep 01-20-2008 12:41 PM

they are free...take them!

I'm going to. Wish I knew they would work for my TJ though. I guess I'll take them to sell and buy TJ doors.

I am pretty sure that the latch mechanism is different. I had rock doors from OR-FAB and offered them to my friend with a YJ and they fit but wouldn't latch.

chezuki 01-20-2008 09:24 PM

The latches are way different, they yj doors latch onto about a 3/4" rod-type striker while the tj doors have a 1/4" loop-type striker. They striker plates are easily removed though, so you might be able to interchange them and make it work. Sorry, if if wasn't 3 degrees out I would go take pictures to illustrate this better. :D

Ah Ebay, always good for pictures...

so the only difference is the stryker plate/latch? I guess i'll have to try to find someone with a yj and see if I can use the door to test it........
