Tie Rod repair

Well, after snapping my tie rod at Tahuya, I contacted Northridge (where I bought the Currie tie rod) and they got me in touch with Currie. The end result is a much better tierod.

Here's the replacement rod right after I got it. Also some JKS disconnects. I managed to break a disconnect as well.

Rod comparison. I eally like how the new rod is threaded and no slits in the tube for clamping like the original.

The broken end and how the replacement looks.

Old rubber boot replaced with rubber washer and compression washer.

Under the rig. I still need to double check toe. And a poser shot of the missus new rig. It will soon be on the trails...

Nice work Bob, I asked David to bring a spare tie rod with him. I have a feeling I'm going to need it before the week is out :)

Thanks. Good luck at Moab. Take plenty of pics. You know we want to see them.

I just installed the Currectlync on my TJ. This has me a bit concerned.

Not sure if you should be. Take a look at the rod ends of the tie rod. Are they threaded with a lock nut, or clamps. The tube ends with the clamps are slit after threading and not truly center bored. After taking a good look at mine (pieces that is) it was pretty obvious.

Mine looks just like your broken one. :(

Contact the vendor you got it from. They should know about the 'upgrade'. You have to pay for it, but you should get a refund when you send the old one back. At least that is my understanding. Currie should have my broken one in their hands this Tuesday.
