I finally get it.

In high school my father bought me a 79 Wagoneer with wood paneling. He helped me lift it and it rode on 33s. It was the late 90s and my friends didn't get it and after high school I moved on to a series of sports cars and then a pickup.
I got married, I have a daughter and now a minivan. It's a very nice minivan, more on that later.
It became time to buy another car. Something with a back seat and cheap. The other problem when searching for a car is summed up by my father who said, "Life is too short for cheap cigars, blended whiskey and boring cars." So it was settled that our next car could not be a Toyota Corolla, no matter how practical it might be.
After much searching we found a '91 Jeep Wrangler Sahara with a 4.0, five speed manual and a soft top. It was in good shape and no one had yet modified it. Blank slate. Awesome. I had never driven a wrangler before, but I liked the idea of it.
After three months and a few weekends wrenching under the Jeep I have a few thoughts. Firstly, as it compares to our minivan. Our minivan has leather seats with warmers, a six CD changer, rear seat DVD, dual zone climate control, cruise control, a sun roof, and 7200 airbags. My jeep has a few nice comfort features too, like a heater and a radio with two blown speakers. As far as safety features go it comes standard with a very sturdy roll bar and four seat belts. And if I take it on the highway it shakes above 65mph (still trying to fix that).
But what I love about this old jeep is that whenever I drive it I can't help but have this big, stupid, shit-eating grin all over my face. And my 2yr old daughter sees it and asks me eagerly, "go for ride in jeep.". She loves it. I love it. It hard to explain why I love it, but it's a jeep thing and I finally understand.

Your father... A very wise man!
