Trek Top NX vs. Factory Soft Top

What are the Pros and Cons of Trek Top NX and Factory Soft Top? I can't decide which one to get.

I can't speak for the factory soft top because I never had it. I can give you my opinion on the Trektop NX though...

Pros: Easy to open/close Sunrider folding top; All windows are removable; Unique look; Cheaper than most tops

Cons: Takes time to get the windows back on; You can't run with the Sunrider top folded back AND the windows out (flaps and rattles like crazy); Can't run fully topless unless you take the entire Safari top off; The supplied tailgate bar is terrible to relatch (you can use the factory soft top tailgate bar instead).

Hope that helps a little.

Thanks! that actually does help. Just the kind of information I was looking for. I had read some previous threads, but just couldn't get a feel for what was good and Bad about the tops. I had no idea you couldn't run with the Sunrider open. That was one of the reasons I was thinking of going with the Trek top NX.

Really?! That sucks. Haven't tried it yet, but was planning on riding that way most of the summer.

I've had both...

Factory
Pros: Great fit, easy to fold, easy to take completely on/off, windows come out easy, easy tailgate access
Cons: Looks like every other Jeep, expensive, Sunrider a bit of a pain, bulky storage on Jeep and off.

TrekTop NX
Pros: Great fit...OEM quality, safari top is a nice to have on a 4-door, Sunrider is a snap, very cool look...unique, easy storage off the vehicle... takes up little room, fairly inexpensive
Cons: The biggest pain in the ass to install (for the first time), Aforementioned tailgate bar is garbage (just ordered Mopar OEM), ingress to tailgate is bothersome (but no worse than OEM softie)

I never used my OEM top. I will use the Trektop NX Spring~Fall. My vote is Trektop NX despite the miserable initial install.

Sorry for the slight hijack been thinking of getting a trek top myself. couple questions I have are.
After the initial install its easy to put on and take off ?
Storage of windows and top in a 2DR Is there enough room behind the back seat ?

I can drive with the Sunrider open. I do have to tighten the rear straps when I open it and loosen before closing but as long as I tighten it up when open it is fine

Been driving with mine open for the last two days

You can run with the Sunrider top folded back AND the back windows out...but it's noisy as hell and at highway speeds, you'll wish you didn't. They actually advise against speeds higher than 50mph on Bestop's site. It's simple enough just to pull the whole top off if I want it completely open...I just have to store it somewhere or drop the back seats.

The initial install does REALLY suck toward the end. I did the install by myself in a couple hours, but I couldn't get it to latch to the front clips for well over a day. Everyone else had similar issues. The material needs to loosen up a lot before it will latch. I run the top full time since I sold my hard top and it's broken in perfectly now!

i just put my top on, so you have to leave the sun rider closed when the windows are out, what other combos do or dont work with it?

I found a fix for this issue. I took out the flimsy aluminum bar and replaced it with a 1/2" galvanized pipe from lowes.

I did a write up here

I bought the precut 4' pipe and yes both ends were threaded and put end caps on each end. Got galvanized as not to rust
