To Plasti Dip or Not to Plasti Dip...

Looking for honest opinions on wether or not I should plasti dip my headlight bezel as well as my wheels... I plan on spraying my door handles as well as they are chipping a bit... And has anyone plasti dipped a deeper dish wheel before or has pix? And the chrome bezel is peeling do I need to sand it or anything before spraying it in plasti dip? I think if any color can pull off the chrome bezel its gray but im still up in the air on it... Thanks in advance dudes!

You sir have a sweet jeep! nice job. as for plastidipping I'm gonna do my fender flairs this summer. I think your rims would look nice in black too. It can't hurt, if you don't like it just peel it right off. No harm done and you're out like 7 bucks

Thanks dude I can't take credit for any of it... I purchased this mall crawler still needs a ton of work my list of things to do is so large... I would plasti dip the fender flares as well but I am switching out to the flat style wackers so I stop rubbing on my 35's :/ I picked up some turtle wax plastic restoration stuff (to get them ready for craigslist) that's my project tonight and changing out the stock radio to a Sony deck.

Last week I plasti dip'd my grill, headlight rings, trail rated badges. I have to say I am impressed. It feels durable and strong. One can did all that with multiple coats, at least 10 on the grill alone. I am planning on doing my rims, door handles, flares next.
Just some advice, go light with the first few coats, meaning hold the can about 10" inches away. I went heavy and close with mine and it still came out perfect. When the can gets low it will start to "spit". Just stop and shake the can good and spray it on card board or whatever to clear the line. I did the grill with it on the Jeep, it wasn't too bad. I taped off every thing really good. More pics in the link below of the process.

yes.... those rims would look sweet dipped.
Do the headlight rings, maybe even the grill. You colors can pull it off just fine.

One more tip I forgot is to pull the painters tape off right after your last coat while its still wet. I made the mistake of waiting and it all dried onto the tape.

Ya its tricky stuff I have ran into that same problem even when taking it off during the last wet coat :( I am getting better at it however!

plastidipping

I used plastidipping on my fenders. Looked great till I made the mistake and spilled some oil on it. Now it looks like crap it bubbled. So I thought i'd take off the bubbles. Now I have to strip the whole fender and start over. I'd say if you have the prefect Jeep and never have to work on it or get any scratches or rub up against it then you'd be fine. Other wise you'll end up with the mess i have.
