33x12.5x15

Does anyone have pictures of a TJ with 33x12.5x15 tires with only a 1.25 bl and 6 inch flares. I want new tires but I want an idea of how they are going to look first.

friskeljr 04-02-2012 03:26 PM

not sure 33s would fit with just a BL

friskeljr 04-02-2012 03:27 PM

I had a 2.5 lift and flat fenders to put 33s on mine

Lbailey21 04-02-2012 03:28 PM

When I bought my TJ I had a 3BL and it rubbed like crazy!! I had to buy spacers until I bought my 4" lift

Gonna have a tough time with only 1.25bl unless you have some fender modifications which is probably not the case if you want 6" flares.

Generally, for on-road use only you'll need at least 2" of lift. for on/off road, 4" is desirable.

I had 31x10.5's before the bl and there was absolutely no rubbing I am skeptical about the added inch in width on the outside more than the height of the tire

Forgot to mention I already have the 6 inch flares installed

I would remain "skeptical" until you get some more clearance. Why not just add a $100 2" BB to get the clearance you need for 33's?

What is the backspacing on your wheels?

I would love nothing more than to lift my jeep but for the reason I quote "you can't lift your jeep in case your mom wants to borrow the jeep so she can still get in" -my dad

So teach mom how to get in a lifted Jeep

You should be fine as far as width goes, I would just be afraid of ripping off a fender over a speed bump because of the height.

TJspeed 04-02-2012 04:57 PM

I have a 2" BB and 33x10.5 and they rub pretty good

Then don't mention the term "lift"....simply call them "spacers". :D

Or you could just buy your Jeep? Then lift it. I purchased mine when I was only 17, it can be done on a high school budget. :punk:

My parents have me in a catch 22 they won't let me buy it because I'm paying for college right now but won't let me mod it mechanically until I buy it -_-

blkrubi88 04-02-2012 05:32 PM

I agree with everyone else, just not enough lift for 33's.

I have a 4" lift and 33's, with about 7" of space between the top of my tires and the flares and they rub real bad at full flex, I'm amazed I haven't ripped one off yet.

jrussblues 04-02-2012 06:50 PM

I would love nothing more than to tell you it will work, but it won't, at least not sustainably. I rubbed at 3" of combined lift, 4" and now I sit between 4.5 and 5...still rub. Granted I'm under pretty good flex but 1" + 33's = something broken. Your best bet would be to modify your fenders. If you squeeze 33's on there as is you'll be modifying them whether you like it or not if you leave the pavement.

jrussblues 04-02-2012 06:54 PM

...you may be able to pull off 32 11.50's though. It would prob look cool too.

When I got mine, the previous owner had it with a 2" BL 33x12.5, 6" Bushwhacker flares and American Racing Baja (forget the back spacing) wheels. I had no issues with rubbing on the street or trails for 2 years..

I have since added a 2" BDS lift

Those are the same rims I have so hopefully the 32x11.5 tires will fit the same minus the 1/4 of clearance
