holy cross run

TrailDamage.com - Holy Cross

so, lets start the planning and who is in... When works..

Ibuildembig 04-02-2012 08:43 PM

Man I want that trail bad.....dad and I tried it with a slightly modded YJ about 10 years ago and made it to the river and it got dark. One of these days I will be back to chalk it up on the list :)

BrianTG 04-02-2012 08:45 PM

I call a passenger seat.

Colo-TJ 04-02-2012 08:49 PM

I'm in but would like to see July so I can have my rig a little more ready this time=-Lockers tires and tummytuck. it probably dosent open till June

wanderlust 04-02-2012 08:52 PM

I need to make a few adjustments as well

Colo-TJ 04-02-2012 08:57 PM

are you thinking a 2 day trip?

wanderlust 04-02-2012 09:00 PM

yes, make a weekend out of it. It is a cruise from the springs. wonder if you can camp in the trail somewhere?

Colo-TJ 04-02-2012 09:00 PM

August works too. great time of the year as far as weather goes.. and less people.

Colo-TJ 04-02-2012 09:02 PM

Dispursed camping is allowed acording to the MVUM from the forest service.

Uh, yeah, axles would help, and how many links do you have in the rear now, 3,4,5?

wanderlust 04-02-2012 09:03 PM

I am planning on doing the rubicon in august

5.. but I am actually happy with the way it is working right now. turning my attention to axles and armor

Oldguy 04-02-2012 09:19 PM

I simply don't have enough time or money to get my rig set up for that this summer. Maybe next year.

Attachment 110551Shoot Im in for a Holy Cross again. Did it on 33's and no lockers so 35's and the rear locked along with a winch will help too. Here are a couple of pics from the last time. First 2 are of French Creek and the last 2 are Cleveland Rock. The Jeep is a CJ7 with D60 front GM 14 bolt rear and lockers powered by a 350 Chevy.

brendend 04-02-2012 09:48 PM

if its done in july i should have my set up totally redone or at least partially finished, enough to run

SFrubicon 04-02-2012 10:10 PM

You know I'm in hopefully I'll have some RCV's by then

G-Rocc 04-02-2012 10:46 PM

I'm in. Maybe we can have an RCV install party in a month or so when I plan on getting mine as well.

I'm in!! I ran holy cross in September and had to turn around at the river cuz it was pitch black out and raining.

As far as camping out, if I recall correctly there is no camping along the actual trail but Homestake is the camping area around the trail head. There are TONS of FREE camping spots along the forest service road, my family camps there at least once a year. The creek is good for fishing and there's lots of ponds to hike to and just a whole lot of fun!!! :)

Thanks again for the awesome time on Sunday Doug! You made the trip a blast and even though I had just met you minutes prior we all trusted your guidance and you got us through.

Yea this pic was too sweet to not be profile status haha: that feeling when you realize you've reached a whole new level of puckered! Haha
