If properly maintained your sport is likely less than half of it's way through life.

That assumes that the PO took care of it and you will take care of it.

Take care of it and it will take care of you! The 4.0 I6 engine is well known for having a VERY long life...some even pushing the 300k mark

Haha. I was looking at one. Some kid in Newport Beach was selling a '98 with 375000 miles on it. He said the compression was perfect and the car ran like a rock.

He was asking $7500 for it. It was lifted with 33s. Even though I didn't buy the Jeep from him, we talked for a few weeks about this awesome vehicle that we both love.

he wound up selling it to some 65 yr. old guy in Colorado for $7k. Wowzers.

I guess to some, mileage doesn't matter.

It's all about how the previous owner treated it and maintained it. A vehicle with 50k miles on it could be in MUCH worse shape than one with 300k on it. I never put low miles as a priority when im looking for a vehicle, instead i check out service records, inspect the whole vehicle, ect...

I can never understand why people will pay out the ass for a vehicle with low miles but they dont even bother to check if its been abused. I bought my jeep with 150k on it and it runs beautifully, ive never had a single issue with it. Before i bought it i checked out the service records, inspected everything on it and brought it to a mechanic to make sure i wasnt missing anything. The jeep had a brand new engine installed in it and i made sure to ask why and went to see the mechanic who installed it. Turns out it was accidently over-revved they threw a rod. The rest of the jeep was in excellent shape, it had obviously been taken care of and garaged.

I got my 99 at a great price, with a brand new engine and clutch installed. I got it for well below what 99's usually go for mostly because people looked at the odometer and automatically said no. But little did they know that it was in better shape then most 99's with half those miles on them, AND it had a brand new engine and clutch in it.

Obviously you have to check more things out like the tranny, rust, engine, ect when you look at a higher mileage vehicle, but if it was taken care of properly it can be in just as good or better shape as one with half the miles on it.

Well after that long tangent i guess my point it take care of your jeep and it'll take care of you!

lol that is true...7k is pretty steep for vehicle with 375k as he could have gotten that price down to about 4000 easily with that many miles.
